Negril in the morning

Upon the opening of my grateful eyes
I’m blessed with the view of another Negril sunrise

Still lying beachside – I hope your weekend was refreshing and grand
I’ve walked the beach, eaten @ Juicy Beefs, and partied on the sand.

Today I’m back on my grind – communicating via the beach,
I’m Qui

A technology lover [bless the day t’was discovered] – It keeps me in a strokes reach.

Hit me up! Especially if you’re in JAMAICA ‘mon.

Feeling Good!

The weekend is upon us and I’m under the influence of FUN
I’m on the carribean beaches of Negril, Jamaica – in the sun.

I know alot of things are ‘going on’ on the Kingston royal bays,
But Negril is at least 130 miles away – so we’re feeling pretty safe. 😉

So far so good – the fun is just getting started.
I’ve been in the “party state of mind” since we DFW parted.

I’ve met some good people and many more will be met
Tonight we’ll club on the beach at a joint called: Alfred’s.

I’m feeling good tonight amidst mother natures smug humidity,
I’ve got a RED STRIPE and smokey ambience- thus all is good with me.

When in Rome – Wear Roman Sandles,
I’m Qui
Dreaded up. 🙂

What’chu know about JAMAICA ‘mon?

In Movies, Music, Networking, News, Travel on May 25, 2010 at 8:57 am

Positive JAMAICAN NotesI obviously don’t know enough, and even though recent incites of violence in Kingston, Jamaica is quite concerning and discerning I still have a love for it. So the early morning found me up researching Jamaican artists whose dance hall tones override the ‘violence jones’. I found Ms. Cherine Anderson. Do you know her?
She’s beautiful, she sings, dances, acts and blogs. Carribbean Net News covered a film that she starred in “One Loveopposite Idris Elba [2006 International Film Festival]. The film trailer is hot and Carribean Net News gave it outstanding reviews. Cherine needs not flaunt combat boots or a gun strap in tow to get attention – She’s a NO LIMIT SOLDIER at the core of her soul. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. Get to know her & vibe her positivity.

What about Queen Ifrica? Surely you know her…Right? Oh ‘mon Queen Ifrica’s soulful sounds are comparable to ourIndia Arie, but with a more authentic root. She reps Montego Bay lovely. Peep her hue:

[In depth Translation: You can’t take my virginity away from me]
Where’s our “domestic comparable” to THAT? 🙂

Somebody’s gotta balance this thang out
(media reflection). Why not me? Marcus Garvey (Jamaican native) came to the US — HARLEM in fact — and brought positivity and unity with him (his asset is historically documented). The least I can do is keep a positive outlook and prayers going out – as Kingston goes through one of the roughest patches it’s faced in a long time.

Sometimes it’s hard to pray for somebody or for people you don’t know. Maybe you didn’t know any Jamaicans as of yesterday, though today I beg to differ. Get to know Cherine and Queen Ifrica – they’re just two positive notes on an island of many…

Stay tuned for more JAMAICAN Insight,

and it’s my pleasure to “focus on” — in my writes.

They’re doing what?

In Movies, Music, Networking, News, TV Shows on May 24, 2010 at 4:54 pm

Sure Halle Berry is looking good and feeling single while doing so – but make no mistake her black book is filled with projects pending and papparazzi snoops who are relentless & neverending.

Vivica Fox has not ever been one to sit idle. I recently saw her in a film with Jean Claude Van Damm in it: “The HARD CORPS“. It was great. It reminded me that there’s more room than a little bit to showcase ones talent. The silver screen is nice, but Vivica also has a love for cable and dvd. Meow! and Look out!

Samuel L. Jackson will be holding it down in Iron Man’s 2012 “AVENGERS” – He’s also working on a few other projects so …production don’t stop per his Imdb listing. Check him out.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston are expecting a new baby! Yeaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Or so recent headlines have printed. Personally, I hope it’s true. Babies yield such radiant joy -by default. Who couldn’t use more of that in an already successful life?

Alfre Woodard is doing pretty good – she’s rarely ever far from “the heat”. In fact as we speak, she’s shooting for the TV Series “Memphis Heat“. Life is sweet!

Prince is all up in the news these days, but not “the artist formerly known as”. 🙂 It’s PRINCE – GS BOYZ & Yung JUICE from Dallas; the producers of “BUBBLE GUM”that southern party music that K104 keeps playing in decent rotation. There’s no moral message to the track, but it certainly is celebratory in delivery. A party jam.

Master P can’t be forgotten…every now and then he comes to mind when I think about Louisiana music and how he opened up ‘the grind’. He’s still in the lime light — still pioneering positive eruptions. Percy Miller is still on the hunt to own his own tv network/production.

Monica has a new CD out: “STILL STANDING” and it is completely jamming. Besides being timeless in her looks her voice hasn’t aged either. Feel young again and jam Monica where she stands.

Jamie Foxx of Terrell, TX is one brother I can rarely get enough of. He sings, he acts, he cracks me up… He’s a winner! His film resume is crazy these days and to think the camera fell in love with him during his stint on the Wayan Bros.IN LIVING COLOR

Vanessa Williams is still a hot talent to me. I hate the industry ever took “the camera” off of her, but she’s a sister full of SOUL FOOD and substance, so I’m sure we’ll see her again.

I just thought I’d run down a few things you may not have known,

The Eve before Monday Morning

In Griot, News, Politics, Sports on May 23, 2010 at 10:01 pm

It’s Sunday night already and just like the previous days before
for every “shot” I took – I REEL‘y scored!

Something like those in the NBA: I’m “game appreciative” – I am no hater.
Tonights NBA WIN went to Phoenix – given up by the Lakers.

I peeped the weekend news in between my shoots
and was hardly shocked to find – there was nothing new.

Except for more literal confusion looming from a “red states” outlook;
I’m embarrassed that unqualified Texans are altering history books.
I’m not surprised though — I’m an observative –a born and raised Texas kid;
I’ve spent a life time looking upside the ill-rationed reasoning of a conservatives wig.

BP is going on 34 days strong – shooting flagrantly foul;
still polluting Earths waters for ungodly miles.
For marine life, fisherman, and seafood prices – it’s nothing @ which to smile.

Sarah Palin popped up with G.W. Bush in mind during media conversations
and “accidentally” blamed the Obama Administration for cozy BP oil relations
[I kid you – she “meant to” say that.] 🙂

Victoria Rowell has written a new book
She’s part of the reason that I’m “Y&R hooked”:
Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva“.

Me? I’m sure to support it – though I’m hardly curious about the fore titled lifestyle,
I’m Qui
an avid soap watcher whose been peeping Drewcilla and Erica Cane’s wilds for a while.
Oooo Child. lol.

Do You Know CRAIG?

Mid-Week Check Point

In Griot, Music, News, Sports on May 19, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Gosh this week is just flying by,
Good production (on a daily) has got me high.

I’m taking it easy on the writes but heavy on the films.
I’ve been keeping “you” in mind during my reflections of reel.

I’m filming in the DFW, but have the West Coast all in my lens’ view.
I even have a few – repping their camera due – bearing East coast roots.

I’m networking hard and meeting new people everyday;
I’m enjoying the journey at hand & all of the talent being thrown my way.

Hm…What else do I have to say? Well, “world news” is still being made–
But I’ve been uninterested during these BP oil drilling & spilling days.

Slick hearings are going on & wars are still in progress;
Marine life is going down without a BP oil solution vest.

Music from local hip hop producers have been dominating my cd rotational play
So let me give a real quick hit of Ag-Towns “Perry Jackson aka PJ“.

He’s not a philosopher like Common or KRS-One
But if you’re in “the party mood” – PJ amps up the fun.

I’ve also been doing social media businessJoe G was recently in town,
and if you know the KSU Coach like we do – he brings good business around. 🙂

He spoke at a golfing event for the KSU Alumni & duly hyped up the score
regarding the Chicago Bears 5th Round Draft Pick – The Wildcat: Joshua Moore.

The rest of my week calls for editing work and taking up any opportunities ‘to shoot’,
I’m Qui

Checking in with you since we’re mid-way through – because communicating is what I do.
So what’s going on with you?

Laughing at the Dinner Table

In Movies on May 15, 2010 at 8:33 pm

Especially when spectating the dining ettiquetts at Bernie Mac’s table. Remember Ashton Kutcher and “the black jokes” in “Guess Who”? I’m laughing tonight:

Everytime I turn around, something with Bernie Mac in it – is on.
It’s almost as if the brother has never even moved on.
His presence is strong – and he keeps me laughing.
When I see his films on the tube — I forfiet passing.

I even find myself going back for seconds – [Rewinding laughs],
I’m Qui
& Comedic bluntness like Bernie’s is far too historically good to pass.

Go ‘head and laugh::

I appreciate a STRONG RAP

In Movies on May 15, 2010 at 4:38 pm

As laid out in the barber shop scene of “FIVE ON THE BLACK HAND SIDE“. Remember that?

Today is a good day to kick it with FUNLOVING (the principle in the video scene). Did you find yourself digging his philosophy?

and I quote

“I’m The baby maker and the cradle shaker…

I’m the bed tucker, the milk shaker,
the record breaker and the population maker…

I’m the judge, the sludge…
The womens pet – the mens fret…

I Crossed the burning sand and shook the devils hand…

I walked 49 miles of barb wire
and used a cobra snake as a neck tie…”

Now THAT’S Game!

I am Woman.
I’m Qui.
…and I appreciate a STRONG RAP. Can you dig it?

Dicing it up with DYSON

In News, Politics, TV Shows on May 14, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Michael Eric Dyson

Michael Eric Dyson to be specific. Recently he’s been on Anderson 360 speaking on Arizona’s immigration law. I don’t care for racial profiling nor do I care for being vulnerable to illegal visitor violence — so this situation is touchy on both sides of the fence. Respectfully so. I pray we work it out.

But in the meantime Anderson Cooper has been mulling over the situation with a few guests and Michael Dyson has been a frequent. I love his selection of vocab and direct delivery jabs while delivering enlightening information. He’s a conversational chef. I could listen to him all day.

Talk about ‘chopping it up‘ — It’s all DYSON:
