Last night was the season premiere of that BLACK LIGHTNING mister.
However, the opening fight scene belonged to the “Stiletto Sister.”
In this series script, Kara Fowdy is her name
and from 9-5 she works at the school; after hours she’s in the ASA game.
What she did to Syonide was a fatal shame.
She wedged a stiletto in her throat – in the name of shoe-game. 🤪
Meanwhile back at the crib with Jefferson and Lynn Pierce,
they discuss the school board not really being up for it and Lynn’s family fears.
She’s worried about the kids; Jennifer in specific.
Jen’s got a gift that her parents aren’t sure that she can deal with it.
Lynn was interrogated by ASA Agent Odell (played by Bill Dukes).
I also saw Robert Townsend in a pivotal scene or two.
Robert portrayed a school board member named Napier. He and Jefferson go way back.
Napier visited Jefferson off-the-clock, to “check him” on being too black.
Making sure Jefferson knows how the whites folk see him.
Reminding him it’s by no easy whim to be black and respected in Freeland.
Did you see it, man? The set up was nice,
though it’s Kara’s role that has me thinking thrice.
After impaling a stiletto heel into the throat of Syonide,
she went out to see Peter (aka Gambi, the tailor guy).
She went to ask for help and said that if he helped her to dodge her ASA fate –
that she would help him to secure “the briefcase.”
You know who else was in this episode among all of the stars?
Attorney Benjamin Frump; Tray’Von Martin’s family’s legal guard.
Attorney Angela Rye made a cameo appearance too.
Like Ben, she portrayed herself; they ‘do what they do.’
T’is true, t’is true. Good ol’ Black Lightning is bringing it to you.
Who doesn’t appreciate such real-life talent and crew? Ooo!
Back to the story, Boo.
Anywho, kids with special powers are trapped in pods;
Leaving the people of Freeland praying to God.
This season, Pinky from Next Friday plays the church pastor in the community,
whose trying to raise a half-a-mil for the return of the pod kids and praying for unity.
It ain’t working for Anissa; she voices as much to her dad.
Meanwhile, Jen’s home talking to Lynn and fires-off when she gets mad.
She literally fired-off a ball of fire and hit her mother.
Mom became the wounded and less the nourishing lover.
Mom was okay tho and recovered in quick time.
Anissa found a half-a-mil; committing a crime against crime.
She delivered it to the church and all is fine.
While the church praised God, Napier delivered to Jefferson, some bad news.
He said ‘the board is done with him and is closing down the high school.’
To make matters worse, one night while Jefferson was out with his LED Bender on —
he ran into ol’ inquisitive, law-derivative, Detective Henderson.
It didn’t go well.
Jefferson’s covert status was shot to hell.
Henderson insisted he ‘Fess Up to the sum
and out came the “you got me,” response from Jefferson.
Yep, that happened.
The Pierce household is in upheaval at this point.
Jennifer can’t control her lightning joint.
Jefferson in the end, resigned from his job,
with more focused intentions on the ASA mob
and things are different.
Not to mention that Kara Fowdy is officially missin.’
Did you see what Tobias did to her?
Now her role has taken an interesting turn.
She hardly comes off like she takes easy to being burned…
The return of Black Lightning is more exciting and we’ve so much more to learn.
I do love a good story with many subplots,
I’m Qui
Good morning to thee, approach this day giving it all that you’ve got!
Side note: Salilm Akil‘s mind is hot.
‘Fess Up and then Bless up!
What now Jefferson???
