Vision and Focus from 1860

What does tomorrow look like in your mind’s eye? 10-years, 20-years, 200-years from nigh?

You ought to always think forward, from what I just read – yesterday’s woke vision was more than a century ahead.

So I was talking to Fab5Freddy the other day, and he dropped a link referencing The Wide Awakes.

I was intellectually-smashed and enlightened to the hilt because Fab is always on “the progressive” tip.

My mind is always in-search-of a new wrinkle, so I took a quick researching sip — and learned that the Wide Awakes, in essence, have been evolution’s progressive whip.

Formed from the Republican Party in 1860, they pushed for President Lincoln to win. Then they trolled the states with ‘freedom sway‘ for my enslaved kin until the Emancipation Proclamation kicked-in.

What great vision. Evidence reveals that they are still on a mission.

United. Collectively we can conquer all. The Wide Awakes of 1860 had vision and gall.

The spirit of their focus has strengthened with time and has brought many iconic artists together to vibe.

From ObeyTheGiant to Fab5Freddy, Ebony Brown, and Alicia Keys — I am grateful to witness the fruit with century-year-old roots, alive & well, and in full swing.

Life is all about learning and getting better. Tell me something new, and I turn into a research go-getter.

Hank Willis Thomas heads up the 2020 Wide Awake group that defines itself as “a network of like minds who create in the name of liberation, artist sovereignty, and the evolution of society” that aims “to radically reimagine the future and enable self-emancipation.”

Hank Willis Thomas. Who is he? He is an American conceptual artist whose capacity produces the most creative + smartest.

Per the JstorDaily – They were known as the “Wide Awakes,” because of their youth, enthusiasm, and torch-lit nighttime marches. “Now the old men are folding their arms and going to sleep,” said William H. Seward while campaigning for Lincoln, “and the young men are Wide Awake.”

They ran through the streets of the South in the 1860’s — they are a heavy weigh-in as to why slavery missed me

The spirit of their fruit is more than a century years old and their reconvene is our progressive gold.

This topic reminds me that we are always living in legacy-making days. Reality revives Wide Awake and invokes a true quote from SCHOOL DAZE:

New 411 keeps the eyes wide. I credit this brain wrinkle to “the woke” Fab5.
