Of course, I’m a fan of networking communities across states lines and online. That’s exactly what the RICKEY SMILEY NEWSLETTER Campaign does. Personally, I find the subscription to be brilliantly relative, loving, laugh-inducing, and thought provoking.
Newsletters connect people together and can often validate a sense of belonging. The Mayo Clinic published this on the subject, “Having a sense of belonging is so important, considering the groups and labels we give ourselves and others. We are members of families, sporting teams, hobbyists, spiritual groups, charities, political parties, cities, countries and nationalities, to name a few. Nearly every aspect of our lives is organized around belonging to something. “
Yesterday, in Rickey Smiley TODAY, I.e., the newsletter campaign I learned a little a bit about the beef between The Queens of R&B. Rickey ran it down for me because I don’t follow the show. What I learned is that ‘Kandi Burris and LaTocha Scott have a 30-year old debate about group responsibilities and the lack of Tocha’s industry success. Tocha somehow blames Kandi. ❓ I also learned that Rickey Smiley has a #ThrowBackCrush on LaTocha’s little sister:
I grew up in the nineties and was a fan of Escape & SWV, the two groups that compose the series Queens of R&B. I peeped the newsletter 411 and instantly felt reconnected. The Smiley Report also touches on family issues and the recent loss of Rickey’s son, Brandon. Brandon passed from an accidental overdose.
How do I know? I read it in the newsletter last month.
Is it obvious that I feel like I’m family? It’s because I’m on the list and you can get it on it, too. Drop in on RickeySmiley.com and do what you do. Subscribe, connect, and relate again.
Community is making a comeback.
Rickey is leading the way.
