Before you shove that old iPhone up…

Shove it up into your JUNK DRAWER into an intimate corner of your JUNK DRAWER – please consider what future use it may be good for. While watching GOOD MORNING AMERICA this morning, Becky Worley explored the uses of our old iPhones as Apple prepares to unveil the iPhone6.

A new phone — it’s like Christmas! And your old phone? Yeah, you just put it in a drawer, never to be used again. Right? But hold on, this thing is still a really powerful device. Jennifer Jolly (USA Today) says don’t retire it – repurpose it.

Jennifer: Don’t ever throw that old phone away. There’s so much that you can do with it.

1. Start with NAVIGATION: The HUDAWAY App. It lets you download a roadmap from home and then it projects directions onto your windshield.

2. Next – Want to keep tabs on your home remotely? Well the iPhone still has wifi access and a pretty good camera..

Jennifer: So, you could  buy a $300 security camera or you could just use your old iPhone.

3. The PRESENCE App fires up when there’s motion and it sends you alerts, pictures and videos. Smart!

4. Beyond burglars what about keeping tabs on your baby? The CLOUD BABY MONITOR App runs off of any device with wifi and a camera including an iPhone or even an old tablet, and you monitor it from your new phone.

Jennifer: You can do things like record video, you can turn on music so that it plays a lullaby, you can talk to them.

Now think about the future, lots of new devices are coming out for a smart home that’s wifi connected. From music systems to temperature control to lighting — all of these are controlled by your phone.

What if you and your device are out of the house what do Grandma and the babysitter do? Well, goto the old phone. Remember your old iPhone has a huge hard drive. Great for permanent music stations, also keep in mind that you can find similar apps that do the same things on Android phones. So don’t put your old phone out to pasture put it to work.” [original broadcast – Today 9/17/14]

Good morning WordPress kin!  I’m at it again
considering replacing my 2nd iPhone friend.

I’ve long been an APPLE fan; product manufacturing was the best.
I own 5 iPhones, spanning a couple of generations; varying in depths.

I own an efficient iPhone 4 and reliable AT&T 4S.
Though all three of my 5S’s seem to rock capacity best.

Unfortunately as of late, iPhone has been falling off and I’ve got fears,
because I’ve only had this last 5S for less than two years.

17-months, to be exact, and it’s already falling apart,
Siri loses her way in GPS regardless my charting the start.

The operating system is moving terribly slow and my recent call list is inaccurate.
Though I do have a nice case and microfiber towel, that makes it look immaculate.

Just like the other iPhone 4’s that were replaced by my (dimming) iPhone 5’s,
I am being hooked by Galaxy’s look: their smooth operating system & design.

I don’t think an iPhone 6 will make it into my household, this time,
thus I’m excited about it’s future uses grind.

Not sure about the Samsung Galaxy either, I’m merely on the browse,

Before you shove that old iPhone away, consider PRESENCE, HUDAWAY, or CLOUD.

Mondays Mercies

Mondays-Mercies.jpg
.
Good morning beloved. Did you rise early today?
I did. Me and the fam have plans to work and play.

How on Earth did you spend your Easter Sunday?
I wrote a short film and storyboarded the way.

I’m in a Short Film production challenge with friends.
We are charged to produce a film about physical distance.

A financial prize will go a long way on the rent.
Composing a comedy is a how my Easter was spent.

And then boom! The alarm went off this morning.
I was up at at 4am, with a quick goodbye to yawning.

I-want-to-be-with-you.gifGood morning beloved! I sure wish that you were here.
This “physical distancing thing” has me yearning to be near.

Monday be Merciful to us all and level out the numbers
of folk affected by the virus; official ineptitude bungle.

I arose this morning early because I like to pray;
check in with God, thank Him for my mind and bod,
before going forward to play out the day.

While kneeling in reverence I thought about you,
and inserted into my prayer, that God pull you through.
Check in with Him, for what you should and shouldn’t do.
He’s got the whole world… so he got you, too.

Live more mindfully during this era. Pray for divine & life saving insight.
Wear PPE to protect your family, KL, & me! And “we gone be alright!”

What do you think? How’s the fam feeling?
Boris Johnson was sick, and now he’s healing.

The world could use a little bit  more of that. I’d say it’s quite thirsty.
The world is full of much ignorant bull, I pray today for Monday’s Mercies.

Could you use some? Mercy is a verb
when the kids are at home from school and on your nerves.

Is that what’s up?
Consider the kids to be “gifted love.”

Think about it — you work so much to hold-it-all on the line.
When were you ever going to carve out so much family time?

who-me_black-guy.gif

Yes, you.

You probably were not. So, this moment-in-time is a gift. Do let it be.
Dig-in and wear a grin as you thank God for Monday’s Mercies.

Every free moment that you have today, please use it to pull rank,
by conversing with God (in your mind) and throwing in a few “thanks.”

It will go a long way in your energy yield and I’m confident that you’ll find,
Monday to be full of beloved Mercies wrapped in a Covid19 time.

Everything is going to be fine once we, collectively heed and yield respect to,
I’m Qui
Happy to be among the living with thee. We will only get better if we expect to.

IRRESPONSIBLE MFG & MKTG

Think about it…

Our landfills are filled to the max and recycling “all things” isn’t quite as effective yet.

So, why are we a country of consumers who stack the deck
on any thing brand new that we can get?

A new car? You can have it, but what will you or the manufacturer do with the old one?
Recycling isn’t in the picture when we are so often feeling entitled and forever young.

How old are you? Sure, being young is indeed a state of mind,
so is being thoughtful towards Earth, yourself/mankind.

A new house? Old neighborhoods are abandoned for the new.
Builders are responsible for erecting residences for me and you.

They are hoping that you’ll be open to upgrade and bid your current one adieu.
But builders aren’t magicians; recycling houses should be in our purview.

I know what you’re thinking: “homes are recycled” because you have moved ump-teeth times.
Homes are not recyclable. We live in a system that needs to be looked at and redefined.

Homeownership erodes in neighborhoods that are 7-8 families removed from the original builder.
Reminding me of how we arrived at this place of impoverished standards; though, each new fam can be a healer

with an understanding in mind and a long-term vision for the future.
Passing down eroding structures equates to a wound – not a suture.

We, the people should utilize mindfulness via our individ & collective domes.
Let us give deeper thought to re-upping those earbuds and cell phones.

Phones do not render us transportation nor a place to live.
Though, when it comes to emitting radiation to your head, they do give.

So when a new phone hits the market, you often consider dropping the one that you have.
Are phones recyclable? Research before yielding a premature laugh.

THEY ARE NOT recyclable but they should be.
Is it asking too much to get manufacturers to agree?

What is the expiration date for any technological thing?
If marriage engagements don’t work, we just give back the ring.

It’s futile to hoard old cell phones and stack them up.
That practice is for legacy heirloom metals and diamond cuts.

If the jewel isn’t returnable, we opt to regift it or melt it down.
We mold it into a bar or another accessory; but we don’t abandon the crown.

the-ring.gif

Do we really have to have it?

Jewelry isn’t the only valuable commodity that deserves long term thought.
Whatever happened to that old car, home, television, and phone that you bought?

This issue is not solely yours; though your thoughts on resolution are requested like hire.
Responsible manufacturing already exists in some markets – we actively recycle tires.

Would it be too much to dismantle an old home and reclaim the wood?
Would recycling old cellphones do our atmosphere any collective good?

Absolutely. If only we could arrive at recycling being easy and done on a whim.
There are so many products that we insist on upgrading but are not recycling them.

Manufacturers are making products-upon-products with no path to recycle.
We must hold them accountable; lets live a “FULL LIFE” – not a “life-full.”

No RECYCLING yet, but a few REPURPOSING ideas

A life full of old products that we just walked away from.
Thoughtfulness starts with you. Upgrading is supposed to be fun.

Not tethering us all to dated manufacturing ideas.
IRRESPONSIBLE MFG & MKTG is a present issue – for real.

Are you so busy shopping that you have given it no thought?
What “thanks”  have mfg’s given to you for the upgrades that you have bought?

No national trade-in programs or money-back for upgrades.
Must we be loyal to Earths accelerated degrade?

Law insists that we pay a trash collection tax, inspect our cars and pay our utility bills.
Why aren’t we holding manufacturing and marketers to same “responsibility” feel?

The world is full of old NEW stuff and we need help with “the discard.”
Let’s appeal to manufacturers and marketers and not just to the Lord.

Praying for a miracle? Fine. But we need no supernatural dash,
just a few recycling programs to help reduce the loyal customer’s trash.

If manufacturers and marketers want the people – at large, to support…
We must demand they help us out on recycling their specific sort.

Consumers cannot do it alone.
Lest they be more thoughtful and not get that new phone.

T’is a workable solution; a solution that I actually like,
I’m Qui
IRRESPONSIBLE MFG & MKTG exists because “excessive want” is ruling our lives.

Honestly, we can’t afford a trashed Earth; it’s time to consider ye ol’
DO NOT BUY.”
