THE INTRUDER

In Communication, Movies, Networking, News, Video on May 6, 2019 at 5:58 am

So Friday night my guy & I had a double date with Scott (Michael Ealy) & Annie, (Megan Good) and it was good.

We enjoyed a reel cookie cutter layout from Roger Corman‘s old hood.

I’m into seeing movies and move-me’s; God bless production movers –
It was good to see new chemistry in the old lab of The INTRUDER.

I’m not really sure about the initial intentions of reviving this piece –
It wasn’t about innovation, resolution or love’s slow release.

It was a pretty decent remake of the same-named film
Dennis Quaid did great as Charlie, following William Shatner’s hem

as a disturbed white man whose pissed at the presence of black neighbors.
In 1962 the film highlighted discourse and sewing divisive vapors.

In this years THE INTRUDER Dennis played a disturbed guy
with only a remnant of racism coursing through his spine.

He was the seller of a big and beautiful countryside home surrounded by lushes of green.
He wanted to sell it and still dwell in it — an attached squatter if you know what I mean.

Among creeping around the new couples home without them knowing,
Charlie was making plans to assume Scott’s life and duly start sewing

“home seeds” with Scott’s beloved Annie;
thinking he and she could start a family.

There was mayhem and while all scenarios clicked,
I was sad to see Scott repeatedly get his butt kicked

so many times from Charlie; but Scott was a desk nerd.
Annie drew strength from a pan and her fist
revealing survival skills when she s’kerd.

Deon Taylor is the director and producer of this remake
he is listed as the same in Traffik‘s sobering pace.

Remember that?
Paula Patton delivers like ‘Turner & Pat.’

Today’s Intruder film wasn’t hung up on race
but the face of a man with disturbing headspace.

Charlie’s daughter is all that he has in this world to co-sign his life,
but not even she wants anything to do with him because he took her mother’s life.

There were moments in the theater that I jumped out of unexpected fright.
It may be a remake film, but it’s perfect for a little date night.

There were hairy moments where I preferred to cuddle a little tight…
Like when Charlie was peeping-in on Annie in the shower one night.

I’m sure my guy enjoyed the double play:
him watching Megan in the shower and me being okay.

Annie’s body was a total fit slay. I admired the silhouette.
I’m thinking Charlie did too, he seemed to relish in her being wet.

Sex made a couple of debuts atop of the young couples sheets.
My guy and I were watching via Charlie’s secret peep.

It was line crossing  – still, actors Megan and Michael were flossing in this flick.
The legendary Dennis Quaid contorted his craft to display the encroaching counter-dick.

I’m sure the role won’t stick. Dennis is far too likable.
Catch him on the move in his string new of commercials.

Plus, you won’t be expecting the pivotal wording at the films end,
I’m Qui
and I figured I knew much about the script before going in…

I am pleased to concede that I didn’t.
Deon is pretty good at directing, producing and revealing the hidden.

MONDAY’S PROMPT

In Communication, Griot, Music, Networking, Self Improvement, Video on April 29, 2019 at 6:43 am

Good morning Monday. Where have you been girl?
There’s so many vibrations that are moving the world.

There’s Beyonce’s new song, “BEFORE I LET GO,”
and Taylor Swifts “ME” video hit the air like WOAH!

In 24-hours Swift’s new vid has been seen more than 45 million times!
Taylors view balled and doled basketball to the side.

That’s what’s up.
Monday is an exciting weekday cut.

I prayed and I’m up; today I roam this Cali space.
I’m out here on assignment – I do love this place.

The royal service at The Westin is something I could get used to.
I’m the writer peeping their stylo — I love the high-rise view.

Good morning, good morning, good morning to you!
I’m feeling refreshed – so how do you do?

There’s a lot of creativity in the air this morn
dawning after Bey and Swift‘s new babies were born.

I’ve slept like a baby in this penthouse suite.
It’s a great escape from Texas and Arizona’s heat.

Though without you, I am hardly me –
I pray for guidance from the heavenly

Father.
So, don’t bother

chiming in with Earth-leaning advice
about where women should go or do with our lives.

Pardon our force of FORMATION; we’re in assembly.
Bey, Taylor, Shondra and Ava are all sisters to me.

We are like that AVENGERS scene in END GAME when -ish got real
and the women relieved the men to wipe up the battlefield.

Did you see it? It was great.
Avengers put TRANSITIONS on our plate.

Things are changing in the AVENGER dynamic.
Captain A passed off his shield – he did hand it

to another.
Believe or not, t’was passed to a brother.

Hm? The depth of the writing
was real-world-metaphore and exciting.

America needs saving and we all can help.
The Captain may be retiring for America’s health.

She needs help from all of her occupants, especially the women.
America is in trouble but not out of the count to keep winnin.’

Our unity is what bears all and keeps our vibe in mode “grinning.”
Avengers END GAME was about sustaining the winning.

Are you in?
It’s MONDAY morning and we can begin again.
Are you in?

It’s that time again, (if not for all, at least) for many
that ye shall get elevated on this years 4/20.

The weekend is coming and it will bring with —
several ways that you can score a pretty good lift.

Let’s start with Fab5Freddy; he’s a documenting lass —
he’s dropping knowledge and a cough via Netflix’s GREENER GRASS:

.

Oh yes! It’s going down at many passable rounds — in just a few short days.
There’ll be Ice Cream Cake and Lemon Bubble strains for Saturday’s head haze.

That’s right, do partake by taking a documented deep breath
and you can bet your banana leaf ‘s best that Snoop will be a guest.

Method Man and Red Man are still rolling the directory page;
HOW HIGH 2 is a danky-dew debuting on an MTV stage.

Saturday is the date. Ol’ 420 was made to blaze.
In 72-hours you can pick your reel hay.

Or you can smoke them all – just set your DVR today,
and do what you need to do to reserve the weekend-spin for play.

Play and watch! Watch and play!

THE CHI is back. I am still digging and feelin’ ’em.
Ax and Chuck Rhoades are back – I’m back into BILLIONS.

My DVR setup is filled with explosive narrative writes
that have attention-span holders to keep me up at night.

OFF CAMERA WITH SAM JONES is where I spend my lunch hour.
Have you seen his insightful guests? All fresh and no sour.

The Sam Jones production yields power and introductions.
I’ve got class & lab to craft-me-fab and tailor my productive functions.

I’ve got gumption! I’m going for it.
And innovative script? I’m known to score it.

It’s good to go on a creating binge
knowing there are streamers that will house them in the end.

While that’s good news, it’ll make you no star,
Productions are complete just to compete in a DVR spar.

Satellite TV, network TV, and streaming networks
are what comes to mind during a script writing growth-spurt.

So very focused – I am…
I’ve dreams to sit with ol’ Sam.

Though today I am happy to be doing lab in Science.
My GPA is strong. I’m course curriculum compliant.

Give it up to The Young and The Restless,

LIGHTS, CAMERA…

In Communication, Griot, Networking, News, Self Improvement, Technology on April 3, 2019 at 1:56 pm

light_scienceI am enjoying the effort that I am putting into understanding and comprehending the menu of motion picture lights and their many, many uses. I have in my possession several types of lighting kits to use on my shoots:  2 of them use 65-watt fluorescent bulbs and the third one is a set of LED power plate heads on stands. Between the 3 lighting kits that I have, there are several softboxes, key lights, fill lights,  a backlight, and several stands to perch them on. I even have a light rig that yields an awesome rim light and makes my small sets look extra cool while rendering my subjects pleasantly visible.

I am nearing the last 12-month mark of my collegiate journey and lighting is crucial at this stage if I am to ‘see my way clear.’ I’m relentless on learning how to.

I’ve got my LIGHTS and my CAMERA, now I just need that LIGHT action!
I’m a student of cinematography –  a well-lit scene is my passion.

I’ve been doing a little research as I attempt to recreate the ambiance and feel

Let’s talk RELIEF

Khajuraho_temple_reliefband

What do you know about ancient and historic relief bands?
Appreciate the art and retreat from rolling into the gutter, man.

I only learned of relief bands in Art History while working on my BS degree.
Before that, it all looked like tempestuoussculpted works of art to me.

Still, I suppose it kind of does.
Understanding humans is a topic that I love.

India is responsible for the afore sculpture – several adorn many of their historic temples.
The craftsmanship of work is beautiful; from the tips of nips to the butt dimples.

Nothing about this piece looks simple. The work has stood the tests of time.
It was created between 900 – 1130 AD and shows up today in this rhyme.

Genius.
Reminds me of Venus

It’s not a bad view to be facing, if for nothing else to pass the time.
I’m looking at this particular band and I’m liking what I find.

Craftsmanship in every chip. What did you think I was going to say?
I could go on and on about “the positions” – we’ll save that for another day.

Let today yield a little mind-play. Also, take comfort in knowing that I am still that girl.
Let’s Talk Relief and how energy yields heat… let’s word play-it-up to the world.

Are you in, do you want to?
It’s nothing but for a hitch and screw.
Word-for-word it’s too easy to do.
Getting lost in various mediums of art is something that I’m into.

I’m also into you.
It’s Friday morning, honey – how do you do?

The weekend is coming and I pray that it’s sweet.
I’m the creative type looking to sculpt some relief.

WHAT MEN WANT

In Comedy, Communication, Griot, Movies, Networking, News, Video on February 15, 2019 at 12:22 pm

.

Sometimes I sit and wonder to myself
how men think and operate within themselves.

I admit on the subject that I don’t commit to thinking too long,
and after seeing Taraji’s new film I need an Erykah Badu song

and a bag of that magical herbal tea
that she pushed on her patrons and Taraji P.

Erykah’s character also sold weed
in the back of a salon that installed weaves.

This film was easy going and fun to see.
In addition to my patronage, I brought an additional three

and we all enjoyed the theater haunt
that entertained us for 2-hours on WHAT MEN WANT.

So what do they want? You may ask.
Child, you’ll have to see the film to truly bask

in why women should not be privy to men’s passing thoughts.
None were too lewd; I’ve heard many through a faux cough

in my own life.
Though yesterday was about Tina Gordon‘s write

and co-written with Peter Hyuck and Alex Gregory too.
Taraji P. and 8 others executed the films produce.

Taraji was like Paula Patton in the way that she walked the project through.
No shade to Proud Mary, but the WHAT MEN WANT film had more juice.

Okay – the last say may contain a wee bit of shade for Proud Mary.
It’s just that the project was strong before its final cut was miscarried.

WHAT MEN WANT
delivered on many fronts:

The storyline was good and the situations were fresh.
Did the composition and cast yield a comedic gas? Yes!

I laughed out loud often as did my plus-3 party of friends.
We laughed and nudged in the dark from beginning to end.

aldis-hodge_b-e-t.jpgEspecially at what some of the men were thinking – I’ll divvy no spoilers here.
But I will say that Taraji’s co-star Aldis Hodge is a talent our audience held dear.

I heard a few gasps when he came onto the screen.
I remember Aldis as Noah from the UNDERGROUND scene.

My, my, my, it was good to see him cast in a single father’s role
and the chemistry between him and Taraji P was relative gold.

Yes. I really liked it. erykah-badu_what-men-want.JPG
Again big ups to SISTER, the weed selling psychic.

Big ups to Tracy Morgan  who played the dad that held it down
when it was time for his son to be NBA draft-bound.
He was the no-nonsense Dad who’s prone to clown.

I saw a little bit of a Levar Ball ingredient as his storyline did unfold.
Tracy’s character had merchandise to promote his son, including a trademarked logo.

Tracy held his weight and added cohesiveness to the script.
Every element of this film was well placed – none shot from the hip.

I’m sure I laughed through a few quips; this film is a winner and at the conclusion, I felt refreshed.
I’m Qui
and it was good to see Taraji P. Henson continue to shine and look her best.

I say as much because – we all know her as Cookie from Empire.
Empire is no comedy, therefore Taraji’s talent is just fire.

I’d like to know your thoughts on the 2020 Presidential run-flirt by Starbucks Schultz?

LET’S TALK ABOUT what you think? Exactly how full is your cup?
Are you interested in another billionaire benefiting at the 1% share

Please don’t vote on a whim; from that, we have this current sorrow.

Tomorrow is coming. A new dawn will crack.
I don’t know where you are now, but we can talk about that.

LET’S TALK ABOUT staying in good shape. Has your gym membership been handy?

It’s just that unlike fruit it’s easy to chew and soft on my teeth.

Still, for my good, I’ll put away the sweets.

I intend to live mindfully; I’m truly ’bout it, ’bout it.
I love keeping it real with you – I’m glad we talked about it.

Alas, the weekend is upon us and I want to go out tonight.
Like you – I’ve got bills too, still, I insist on living life.

Dancing is a must. LET’S TALK ABOUT it, shall we?

Oh, Happy Day!

In Comedy, Communication, Griot, Networking, News, Self Improvement on January 30, 2019 at 4:24 am

oh-happy-day_smiley-face.jpgI am one y sister this morning.
Yesterday was the last day that TMJ reigned at dawning.

I’ve researched more than my migraine could stand
with a laptop, 2 leads on and a tens unit in my hand.

A migraine lasted for more than a week; it wouldn’t let up.
Every day felt like a hangover; I was annoyed by every touch.

I was really in a bind and I’d really had enough.
Yesterday’s migraine reigned long and tough

until I learned how to properly stretch my muscles.
Smoothing my SCM, Masseter, and Suboccipitals was a tussle.

They were years tight.
I almost cried – I thought I might.

Okay, I did. WHAT? I’m just a girl
and TMJ doesn’t fit the frame of my happy-go-lucky world.

I massaged my muscles in between tens treatments and further learned
that if you don’t move the lead-pads every 20-minutes you could get burned.

Yep. I burned my shoulders a little bit —
but my muscles are more relaxed, so the process was hit.

Today I am grateful. Today I did pray
when I woke up and realized that I felt great!

Oh, Happy Day!

What about you? How’s your vantage view?
Is the family good? How about your hood?
I really missed vibing with you.

Please tell me that you haven’t been watching the news?
What’s the point? We, the people are the joint;
Not politicians.
Me & you.

So what’s up? What are we going to do?
Are you free for lunch? I’ve enough for two.

Let’s sit and make plans for tomorrow, quick.
Let’s be mindful of what we take in – bad ingredients make us sick.

So cut back on the news and read a newspaper.
Cut back on the flower if you can vapor.

Um, I thought you might want to know that too.
Of course when it comes to homeopathic stuff – I got you, Boo! 😛

Today I hump lightly in jest and in love.
Today I’m giving you and good health a big hug.

LET’S HUG IT OUT:
intimate-hug.gif

I’m so touchy-feely.
The human touch is oh so healing.

Hug me and I’ll hug your back – I’m up for a squeeze today.
I’m Qui
with no TMJ about me, singing  Oh, Happy Day!

Thank you for stopping my way.
I mean it, I love you, and have a fantastic day!

Oui Oui Oui – SHORTS TV

In Comedy, Griot, Networking, Self Improvement, Video on January 28, 2019 at 9:52 am
short-film-shorts

I love SHORTS…

During my own personal “shutdown” (i.e., my 2.5-week & running visit with TMJ) I lean heavily on short films to keep my spirits up and my attention off of the pain. It works. Film-after-film I am enlightened, emotionally charged, humored, and alas, feeling less pain in my SCM and Masseter muscles. Endorphins counteract pain receptors.

#ResearchNerd
#TMJSlapToTheFace

Being no fan of medicine (OTC or prescribed) I prefer natural and homeopathic remedies when my good health is challenged. For the chronic pains of TMJ, I prefer to administer MMJ topicals and edibles while watching original short films on DirecTV’s channel 573. It’s a winning combo if you’re trying to “be somewhere else without leaving the house.” 😉

Travel via channel 573 is the best way to go. You don’t speak multiple languages? How do you feel about subtitles? If you’re down – there are no limits to where you can kick-it.

This weekend I traveled well via these hard-hitting short films that took me far away from the tensions of TMJ. I found a few that had trailers and thought they’d be cool to share, so I started with:

WEST SIDE SWORDY:

.

WEST SIDE SWORDY [2015] yields strong homage to West Side Story in the frame of their tale of two street gangs and fight choreographies that was shot in California on a $15K budget. I loved the relative scene designs, the DJ who controlled more than the music and the integration of sword dancing. This is not a West Side Story re-make, but it is strongly inspired. Director Dan Liu and crew did a fantastic job on this 9-minute short that could have easily been a “Thriller-length” music video. Drop in on their website to catch the next showing: http://www.westsideswordy.com/

I then took a journey with Abraham, the principal character in IN GOD WE TRASH. Now before you send this one to the blasphemy bin hear me out. I really took this film to be hinting at a number of our population who say and do things in the name of Christianity to cover their own shortcomings. The film’s message is conveyed in a practical and comical way;  no offense – comprehend.  It’s only 22-minutes and is subtitled. Reading is fundamental – go for it!

IN GOD WE TRASH:

.

The following film was probably by far the silliest, most metaphorically visual film that I have seen in a long time. IS THIS A JOKE, (aka THIS IS A JOKE) is a fabulous comedy written by Tom Edmunds and whose Cinematographer is Luke Bryant. Laughter is a huge producer of endorphins, thus this show helped to TKO my TMJ pain easy. Here’s a teaser to a jam-packed comical pleaser:

I particularly like the way that Tom directs silliness; his vision is hilarious. To see a directors mind does little more to reveal to me the contents of his mind and Tom Edmunds mind is a colorful hoot. My TMJ didn’t stand a chance. Actually, I had to watch this film twice to catch all of the literal punches that were sewn into passing conversation. Believe it or not, on the second round I laughing harder, and reaped more of those pain-free endorphins. Yes-yes!!

It’s possible that I watched at least 20 short films this weekend to help keep my mind distracted from the taut pull of my sternocleidomastoid muscle and my masseter muscle. The pain is pass-out worthy, I just won’t give in.  Especially since there’s always  Probability & Statistics, Shorts TV, a Tens Unit, and BC Powder. 😛

There’s plenty to do than focus on TMJ’s hue. However, with all of the research I’ve done on it, I wouldn’t doubt that a future character in a future script will be battling this ailment.

The way it’s kicking my arse is a comedy, but I’m sure I could work it into a drama. STAY TUNED.

filmstrip-divider

So what have you got up for the day? I think I’m going to take it easy.
As much as I like “doing the most” – with TMJ it isn’t easy.

If you’re at the point of wondering why I keep bringing it up,
it is because it’s giving me a bear hug and the chronic pain sucks.

But I won’t lie, intense math equations help to keep me from focusing on;
and the hope of TMJ fading away is my prayerful sum,

I accessorize that with a couple of edible yum-yum’s and short film binging,
I’m Qui
Oui Oui to the reel vibes of Shorts TV and it’s assistance in my pain ending.

Watching more today because TMJ defense via endorphins is mind-bending.
Reviewing my peers’ films is what I call, “passionate time spending.”
