First Day – THURSDAY

In Communication, Griot, Music, Self Improvement, Video on May 2, 2019 at 6:57 am

independent thinkerDo something different with your life.
If things are going wrong – make them right.

If you haven’t been praying and meditating, start today.
If you’re already on the right path, continue on your way.

Today is the day that you play with the resources in the palm on your hands.
Today you are the Speakerboxx ready to amplify a lovely plan:
.

What is it? Go get it. What in the world do you want?
The universe is listening; don’t be a procrastinating haunt.

Goodness is yours. It’s squarely in your lap.
Wake up and seize it – resist the desire to nap.

Relax today in your posture, in your thoughts, and in your heart.
Let anxieties fall to the wayside, today is an opportunistic start.

Are you ready? Do you have your wits about you? How about your talent/craft?

in love with scripting the view; there’s structure in my lab
and it’s composing a win in the palm of my hand.

MONDAY’S PROMPT

In Communication, Griot, Music, Networking, Self Improvement, Video on April 29, 2019 at 6:43 am

Good morning Monday. Where have you been girl?
There’s so many vibrations that are moving the world.

There’s Beyonce’s new song, “BEFORE I LET GO,”
and Taylor Swifts “ME” video hit the air like WOAH!

In 24-hours Swift’s new vid has been seen more than 45 million times!
Taylors view balled and doled basketball to the side.

That’s what’s up.
Monday is an exciting weekday cut.

I prayed and I’m up; today I roam this Cali space.
I’m out here on assignment – I do love this place.

The royal service at The Westin is something I could get used to.
I’m the writer peeping their stylo — I love the high-rise view.

Good morning, good morning, good morning to you!
I’m feeling refreshed – so how do you do?

There’s a lot of creativity in the air this morn
dawning after Bey and Swift‘s new babies were born.

I’ve slept like a baby in this penthouse suite.
It’s a great escape from Texas and Arizona’s heat.

Though without you, I am hardly me –
I pray for guidance from the heavenly

Father.
So, don’t bother

chiming in with Earth-leaning advice
about where women should go or do with our lives.

Pardon our force of FORMATION; we’re in assembly.
Bey, Taylor, Shondra and Ava are all sisters to me.

We are like that AVENGERS scene in END GAME when -ish got real
and the women relieved the men to wipe up the battlefield.

Did you see it? It was great.
Avengers put TRANSITIONS on our plate.

Things are changing in the AVENGER dynamic.
Captain A passed off his shield – he did hand it

to another.
Believe or not, t’was passed to a brother.

Hm? The depth of the writing
was real-world-metaphore and exciting.

America needs saving and we all can help.
The Captain may be retiring for America’s health.

She needs help from all of her occupants, especially the women.
America is in trouble but not out of the count to keep winnin.’

Our unity is what bears all and keeps our vibe in mode “grinning.”
Avengers END GAME was about sustaining the winning.

Are you in?
It’s MONDAY morning and we can begin again.
Are you in?
#PROMPT

Let’s help each other and God will help us all.
I’m Qui
a woman about things in this Cali scene. EXPAND YOUR FORCES if you have the gall.

There’s no reason on earth for mass unity to stall.
Are you ready, y’all?

Gimme Some

In Comedy, Communication, Griot, News, Self Improvement, Video on April 19, 2019 at 5:00 am

Give me some, because this -ish is all the way live.
I’ll take the full report and Five on the Black Hand Side:

.
Are you down to ride? Yesterday’s CD ROM was hot.
Mueller’s report is a bulky sport and it don’t stop.

Sounds like lyrics made for Hip Hop. Feels like we’re experiencing a growth spurt;
though after the report was made public it’s likely the CIC’s stomach hurt.

The heat is up and is duly on the back of some folks neck.
The Mueller report is alive; the administration is wrecked.

There were a bunch of Oh’s pointing to an X; lets just call the x variable Defendant One.
Gimme Some when the gander is done – I’m off to have a weekend of yum!

Bummed is what the news out of Washington, DC had been of late;
things started to shake last night and tomorrow is 420 Day.
Hip-hip hooray!

Exhale long.
Let your hair down; let nothing be wrong.

Drop the stress as common unity increases.
Tell your stressed out comrade to not to fall to pieces:

.

Today feels like it’s going to produce words that should be composed into a song.
Kinfolk, I’m just happy and pray that we can all prosper and get along.

I prayed that for yesterday, today and I’ve already prayed it for tomorrow.
I really hope the light is truly in view and behind us is the bulk of sorrow.

New Peruse? “Whatchu’ talkin’ about  Willis?” I ain’t been in the mood.
It’s hard on a Griot to keep singing the blues about a variable fool.

Lord help us all. Let us approach this day expecting a little fun.
I’m Qui
Dropping by to love on thee and to reciprocation I say, “Gimme Some.”

DVR Spar

OWN NETWORK_DvrSpar.JPG

THE CHI is back. I am still digging and feelin’ ’em.
Ax and Chuck Rhoades are back – I’m back into BILLIONS.

My DVR setup is filled with explosive narrative writes
that have attention-span holders to keep me up at night.

OFF CAMERA WITH SAM JONES is where I spend my lunch hour.
Have you seen his insightful guests? All fresh and no sour.

The Sam Jones production yields power and introductions.
I’ve got class & lab to craft-me-fab and tailor my productive functions.

I’ve got gumption! I’m going for it.
And innovative script? I’m known to score it.

It’s good to go on a creating binge
knowing there are streamers that will house them in the end.

While that’s good news, it’ll make you no star,
Productions are complete just to compete in a DVR spar.

Satellite TV, network TV, and streaming networks
are what comes to mind during a script writing growth-spurt.

So very focused – I am…
I’ve dreams to sit with ol’ Sam.

Though today I am happy to be doing lab in Science.
My GPA is strong. I’m course curriculum compliant.

color temperature_equals emotions.gifI’m studying color contrasts and what lighting temps do to a scene.
I’m honing in on how to visually make you laugh and cry at a thing.

Oh yes, fam. Science lives inside of Art.
Soap Operas own the sport of emotional war.

Give it up to The Young and The Restless,
tho I think OWN Network is in the lead at doing it best.

I’m watching quite a bit – I’m trying to see it all.
I must admit I rarely quit but pass out/nocturnal stall.

Good stuff y’all. Are you watching any show more than you watch the news?
I’m Qui
Into thee and hard on my studies to craft much fresher views.

I don’t mind the news but I’m am into a much more enlightened you.

Monday, Monday

In Communication, Griot, News, Self Improvement, Video on April 8, 2019 at 6:29 am

Monday, Monday you must be a fun day.
I need you to be you  — o’ beloved follower of Sunday.

I’m leaning like Franky and clearing my throat to sing
‘Luck be a Monday’ – she likes me… I think.

.

If I were D’Angelo then Monday would be
that thing that I sing about — Monday’s are key:

.

Let’s rise up early and play wildly in the bed.
Before getting to work let our inner child be fed.

Monday, Monday be a fun day — for work will find us soon.
Even Kirstjen Nielson insists on fun; she’ll be packing her office by noon.

I don’t blame her. She is just like you, me, and John Kelly;
she just wants to be on the playground with her mind sound by 3.

early-morning-pajama_Qui

Start early…

Don’t ever let the day get too late…
Do not pass Monday without a little play.

Hip-hip-hooray to KJ. heart-thumbnail ‘I always knew that you could do better.
Go on home and relax your bones, take off that binding sweater.

Find the chocolate and the vodka…and figure a cocktail out.’
Me? I’m up early feeling girly, about to get dressed and move about.

I’m meeting with productive friends – we think tank over cups of joe.
We also pray, take time to play, and encourage folk on their to and fro.

I’m happy today and before I get out of bed
I want my Monday to be a lady… I’ve got a melody in my head.

Monday fun day, I know you to be sweet,
I’m Qui
Good morning to thee, I’ll take the joe and forfeit the tea.

Unexpected Endings

In Communication, Griot, Movies, News, Self Improvement, TV Shows, Video on March 8, 2019 at 5:12 am

.
And so it is the weekend, baby.
I’m up early for the worm – I’m a shot-calling lady.

I was up late last night shooting scenes.
The FS5 is what I do. It’s my thing.

I am focusing on camera movement and lights.
I’m studying all of the greats so that I can bite.

Aye, aye, aye! I’ve got many homages to pay.
I’ve got a griot script that I need to slay.

Hey! It’s the weekend baby and I’m excited about it.
Stand the studio up and not assist the cut? I doubt it.

I am giddy to be shadowing such exciting cinematographers.
I’ve got to thank my collegiate curriculum for turning out reel cinema-ballers.

I’m all hers; New Skill can call me up anytime.
I’m guilty of always picking up the call line

because Unexpected Endings is what I find.
BIG UPS to Arizona Studios and their reel project grinds.

You never know what life will present to you when you set out on a journey…
I pray that you find new life during your life before resting on the gurney.

Go on and pray-it-back for me, too.
Today I’ve got so much stuff to do

that I could really always use a good word being put-in with the big guy.
I’m gonna also ask you to send up one more for Alex Trebek‘s quality of life.

I’m not a big JEOPARDY fan, but my mom loves it the most
and it seems pancreatic cancer has donned on the host.

If you believe in the Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost, the Holy Koran and such,
then yes, send up a good word for the sick and shut-in; do it out of love.

And that is my Ms. Community plea for the week;
a knowledge-heavy weekend is what I yearn and seek.

I’ve got 2 short films to direct and reel
if I intend to keep my honors appeal.

I know that you’re with me; I know that you understand,
I’ve got some scripts to birth and some eyes to land.

Heyyy! Hold my hand. It’s been you and I since the very beginning,
I’m Qui
Good morning to thee, let’s script a movie. I’m up for Unexpected Endings.

WHAT MEN WANT

In Comedy, Communication, Griot, Movies, Networking, News, Video on February 15, 2019 at 12:22 pm

.

Sometimes I sit and wonder to myself
how men think and operate within themselves.

I admit on the subject that I don’t commit to thinking too long,
and after seeing Taraji’s new film I need an Erykah Badu song

and a bag of that magical herbal tea
that she pushed on her patrons and Taraji P.

Erykah’s character also sold weed
in the back of a salon that installed weaves.

This film was easy going and fun to see.
In addition to my patronage, I brought an additional three

and we all enjoyed the theater haunt
that entertained us for 2-hours on WHAT MEN WANT.

So what do they want? You may ask.
Child, you’ll have to see the film to truly bask

in why women should not be privy to men’s passing thoughts.
None were too lewd; I’ve heard many through a faux cough

in my own life.
Though yesterday was about Tina Gordon‘s write

and co-written with Peter Hyuck and Alex Gregory too.
Taraji P. and 8 others executed the films produce.

Taraji was like Paula Patton in the way that she walked the project through.
No shade to Proud Mary, but the WHAT MEN WANT film had more juice.

Okay – the last say may contain a wee bit of shade for Proud Mary.
It’s just that the project was strong before its final cut was miscarried.

WHAT MEN WANT
delivered on many fronts:

The storyline was good and the situations were fresh.
Did the composition and cast yield a comedic gas? Yes!

I laughed out loud often as did my plus-3 party of friends.
We laughed and nudged in the dark from beginning to end.

aldis-hodge_b-e-t.jpgEspecially at what some of the men were thinking – I’ll divvy no spoilers here.
But I will say that Taraji’s co-star Aldis Hodge is a talent our audience held dear.

I heard a few gasps when he came onto the screen.
I remember Aldis as Noah from the UNDERGROUND scene.

My, my, my, it was good to see him cast in a single father’s role
and the chemistry between him and Taraji P was relative gold.

Yes. I really liked it. erykah-badu_what-men-want.JPG
Again big ups to SISTER, the weed selling psychic.

Big ups to Tracy Morgan  who played the dad that held it down
when it was time for his son to be NBA draft-bound.
He was the no-nonsense Dad who’s prone to clown.

I saw a little bit of a Levar Ball ingredient as his storyline did unfold.
Tracy’s character had merchandise to promote his son, including a trademarked logo.

Tracy held his weight and added cohesiveness to the script.
Every element of this film was well placed – none shot from the hip.

I’m sure I laughed through a few quips; this film is a winner and at the conclusion, I felt refreshed.
I’m Qui
and it was good to see Taraji P. Henson continue to shine and look her best.

I say as much because – we all know her as Cookie from Empire.
Empire is no comedy, therefore Taraji’s talent is just fire.

Monday Muse

In Communication, Griot, Music, Self Improvement, Video on February 11, 2019 at 5:47 am

.

Good morning Museful Monday. My weekend was great.
My collegiate studies were tended to; a strengthened GPA.

I did a little DIY artwork – to help me see clearer;
I applied strips of jewel-bling to my dresser mirror.

Pics are coming soon! It’s detail work in progress.
I was inspired by my headboard from Wayfair, I guess.

Coordination is what I’m into; let my socks match my shirt.
Let my unmentionables be a match and my scarf to my skirt.

Let my bag be like Cardi B‘s and filled with lots of M-O-N-E-Y.
I’m inspired to BACK IT UP, encouraged to script a new write.

It should encompass a little bit of you, a little bit of me and those other two…
I may even sprinkle in a bit of naught & a grin for my Monday Muse.

tracy-morgan_wordplay.gifA word orgy. Let’s do something rank!
Strip down words to naked verbs
be expressive; walk the plank.

I like seeing ‘what you got.’
Speak your mind all of the time – your honesty is hot.

Give it to me. I like the way that you live.
I’m open on the take and happy to counter-give.

I give back dear Monday; for your goodness, I cannot refuse.
I’m Qui
Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed about today’s trail. Come with, o’ Monday Muse.

HIGH MAINTENANCE

In Griot, News, Self Improvement, TV Shows, Video on February 8, 2019 at 5:43 am

.

Season 3 Episode 3: BLONDIE – Have you had a chance to taste it?
I’ve watched it a couple of times and realize we have to face it:

FOLKS LIKE TO BE ELEVATED.

I must admit before season 3 episode 2, I hadn’t ever seen it before.
Dimensionally it is a success; check its IMDB score.

What’s more is that one of the show’s co-creators is more than a scripting factor,
he’s also the principle guy in the series; double credit as writer and an actor.

That’s what up!
I love it when one variable yields multiple cuts.

GOALS.

What’s the upkeep of your journey, how goes your lifestyle?
Are you high or low maintenance? Don’t put on for us, child.

Do your thing while you’re agile,
live incognito; live out loud.

Write up an idea about the world that you see,
then compose a POC and share it with me.

I say as much because beyond the day that I graduate
my POC’s and capacity will convey and facilitate.

I am very much into this.
There are not many stages of production that I care to miss.
Not if I really intend on (tomorrow), having this.

i-got-this.jpg

Everything needs upkeep and everything needs maintenance,
Forego mediocre theater; don’t let circumstances play us.

Amadeus!

Take a deep breath in and exhale strongly my friend,
I’m Qui
and life is what it is; a cyclic rotation that we are in. I’m literal with the spin.

Miss me with the ash.

Kicking it with John, Alex, and Mark

.

We are in the 4th season of SHOWTIME’s series, THE CIRCUS with John Hieleman, Alex Wagner, and Mark McKinnon who are selling peanuts, popcorn, and front row seats to sift through seven days of political views under the current administration’s hue. If you haven’t noticed, it has been quite the sift-show.

Episode 2 of The Circus’ 4th season aired last night and the trapeze artists were all over the place; titling the previous week’s events as  ” Circling Vultures.” The opening had an Anthony Bourdain feel to it as we are meeting up with Mark and Alex in an NYC diner for their weekly rendezvous.; they call John and the sifting begins…

Executive Humiliation

KAMALA HARRIS: “Let’s Do This!”

For those that say Kamala is a young senator that has not done enough outside of the state of California, THE CIRCUS has two names by comparison for you: Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

CLIFF SIMS, former Trump Advisor turned Aide has the cutest set of dimples and has published the most poisonous book of snakes: TEAM VIPERS. Cliff said there’s an atmosphere in the White House of  “Kill or be killed” kind-of vibe going on.” And then Cliff goes on to recall a line from TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, quoting, “Things are not as bad as they seem,” he continues, “That is how Donald Trump operates.”

SARAH SANDERS and the WHITE HOUSE PRESS BRIEF
yields the concerning public no sweet relief.

ROGER STONE‘s media tour of “I’ve Done No Wrong”

MICHAEL BLOOMBERG is flirting to run in 2020;
as for advice to HOWARD SCHULTZ, he has plenty.

Both men are skilled and noted billionaires.
Neither man can relate to the average American Health Care scare.

COREY BOOKER, the Senator from NJ has thrown his hat in the race
and he did so in front of his domicile place; poised with relativity, hope, and grace.

Senator Booker’s tenacity for unity is no surprise
and his slogan hits home: “WE WILL RISE.”

Maya Wiley and Nick Ackerman closed the show over a meal with John H.
The Circus is the wildest political show on Earth and for episode 3, I can’t wait.
