Bring Back HOPE

In Communication, Griot, News, Self Improvement, Video on August 30, 2019 at 10:17 am

We Can Do It.

Bring it back, bring it back – to every Mr. and every Ms.
Bring Back HOPE and I don’t mean Ms. Hicks.

Speaking of, I hope that she is doing well,
for her former co-worker has rung the quitting bell.

All is well that ends well…
only if there are no secrets to tell.

I’m not interested in any secrets.
Time is of the essence and we need to beat it.

Earth is on fire at our own doing
and the stock market is subject to conflation screwing.

Folks aren’t just standing around waiting for their chips to fall —
we are a wise people and recognize that our systems are full of gall.

Don’t doze off to sleep now. This is the very minute to be awake.
The future of the planet needs us. If we fail to heed, we’ll surely bake.

Don’t let a greedy man burn your land for greedy cash;
yielding our world to cancer and turning our air filters into ash.

I arose this morning feeling pretty stoked
that regardless of what we’ve all heard… there is HOPE.

And it’s back with a fever-pitched passion.
Be excited that HOPE hasn’t gone out of fashion.

Meditate on the good and all that is well.
Meditate on knowing your destination is not hell.

Meditate on being a part of Earth’s solution.
Stay focused and prayerful; don’t yield to confusion.

Don’t bang your head against the wall, you’ll get a contusion.
Stand strong in HOPE. Bring her inside of our evolution.

We need a long-term solution to an issue that is pushing humanity to a brink,

Oh, snap! What’cha know – what’ cha know?
HBO is on fire with A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW.

We’re only 3 episodes in and I relate a hundred percent.
Issa Rae and Robin Thede create dough for the rent.

Binge-watching new episodes is how yesterday was spent.
Episode 4 airs on Wednesday; I’ll be watching with friends.

Get in where you fit in; be a social vulture.
If you have no black gf’s drop in on the culture.

It’s raw, it’s real and I like it very much.
I appreciate the cast for showcasing ‘the smooth & the rough:’

Black Ladies Sketch.jpg

The topics aren’t easy, yet they are comedy sketched.
They yield to thought and laughter; covertness – nixed. 😛

HBO’s new feminine view,
is one that you should cozy up to.

Black Lady’s are fun and confrontational; they wear hair bonnets and are rarely known to flake-up.
Some are also synonymous with “beat faces;” a flawless necessary – is her MAC and NARS make-up:

It’s a breakout show — sharing views you didn’t know.
A Black Lady Sketch Show is full of varieté that’s good-to-go.

Check it out, yo! I’ve got it on lock,

Concentrate.

Are you THINKING ABOUT YOU? I am certainly thinking about me.
I promise to God over the last few days I’ve had the most amazing sleep.

The REM kind; it’s a state of deep sleep
where dreams are vivid and yield an intentional reap.

Yes dear sweet, I have.
Then I awake to the vantage view of comics and laugh.

Are you still laughing?gassy_girl
So hard that you cry and are gas passing?

I hope not the latter, but just in case,
keep your tuckus firmly planted and out of folks face.

It’s okay. I’m THINKING ABOUT YOU,
and the good in this day that you are due.

Partake of the 24-hour fruit.
Taste it, don’t waste it; chew it through.

It’s good for you and nourishing too.
Stand with positive purpose and push on through.

Goodness in the Morning

You and I…

I have had some of the best sex as of late
and the global tube doesn’t run amuck all day.

Though when it is on I’m tuned in to the creative view
of BIG LITTLE LIES and N0S4A2.

Did you watch them? Their level of composition raises the bar.
You can binge-watch each of the seasons if you have DVR.

You really should.
The word “majestic” isn’t limited to Redwoods.

Goodness is about us. It is morning and we’re all awake.
We have an incredible opportunity; each day is a give & take.

Take that – take that,” is what P Diddy would say.
Rise to goodness this morning – invoke a good lay.

Shall you partake?
If I pass the flower will you taste?
Hey-ey!

It’s peaking Summertime, I’m on my grind, I’m bright-eyed with no yawning.
I’m pretty stoked about the good to be had on a Monday morning.

I’m also thinking about the stresses that the world is trying to impose.
I’m not accepting your bad choices; go and clean your nose.

The human heart is strong regardless of skin melanin and race.
The human heart is fragile and thrives on love, not hate.

Love is that good-good that I’m waking up to this morning.
Love is that feel good that lays the groundwork for a new dawning.

Wake up to something good. Wake up to something new.
Wake up to the pleasant change that is facilitated by YOU.

What do you want to do today?
First things first, rise and pray.

Second on the agenda: Do good.
Where to start? In your hood.

Start laying compassion thickly; please begin in your home.
Pray that God fills you with the fruits of the spirit from your soles to your dome.

Your family will take notice and catch on.
Your household is your kingdom; course-correct Rome

one home at a time.
Speak well over your fam’ before heading out to your grind.

Time is of the essence, we all have it; let trials be understood.

Good morning Monday, I’m fond of you and your capacity for good.

Let compassion be strong like raw and natural wood.
Wake-up and make some good-good.

A MoveMe vs A Movie

In Movies, Networking, News, TV Shows, Video on July 22, 2019 at 5:07 am

FilmProjector_ReelTapeWhat’s the difference between a #MoveMe and a #Movie?
Everything.

Just because both are excellent examples of #ReelScience and are entertaining – they are not the same.

Over the last 15-days I have patronized DIRECTV OnDemand and CINEMA services more than I have AMC and I must say my couch gives those theater recliners comfy-competition. Don’t get me wrong, I have lost no love for patronizing the movie theater – in fact, it’s just the opposite, between my homework and career, I have very little time for movie date nights or afternoon solo-movie outings.  Thank God for satellite and streaming services. The two movies that have inspired me did so equally; though they affected me differently. One is a #MoveMe and one is a #Movie:

FAST COLOR
+
US

Let’s talk about FAST COLOR first. Do you know Julia Hart?
I didn’t before this film and I love our introductory start.

fast colors.jpg

FAST COLOR is about three generations of women within one family who have a relative supernatural gift that has global healing effects. Bo, (short for Bonnie) the matriarch and is portrayed by Lorraine Toussaint and her gift is being able to transform solids into atom-sized particles and manipulate them. Gugu Mbatha-Raw portrays Ruth, the only child of Bo who bears strong signs of checkered waywardness and self-inflicted hurdles from the past that are on a straight trajectory to the future  – unless something changes. Saniyya Sidney portrays Lila; she is the only beloved

Webp.net-gifmaker (13).gif

grandchild of Bo’s and the daughter of Ruth. This film is not a feel-good-family feature in the beginning. To be fair, the opening of the film canvases what looks like a mother/young daughter bond processing before sharp transitional glitches propel the footage into a scene of chaos only including a young girl.

After a few jarring scene snippets at the opening, I figured that the writer/director was trying to piece something together for us; though for me, the pieces did not quite fit. Then ACT 2 brought it all together…literally. Fast Colors is about being able to see your purpose; previsualizing the task before you and working it out accordingly. This family’s life task would not only serve them well in becoming a tighter family unit but it actually offered a huge benefit to the world.

Their family reminded me of the possibilities within my own; I am expecting great achievements from specific family members who are not even aware that they encompass greatness. I cried at the screening of FAST COLOR because it painted a beautiful picture of hope in a time when the world needs it most. I was moved to be a more positive supporter of others who are lost or don’t exactly understand their purpose.

I literally took it to heart
and am encouraged to mimic the FAST COLOR art.

I took a deep breath and had a cocktail
before familial hope was nearly shot to hell

in US.
The slow beginning was rough

but it picked up quickly and took on a thicker plot at the end.
Not even I expected it and I was prompted with spoilers – by a friend.

Until ACT 2, I almost lost interest when I did not understand
the high capacity of the nightmare in the director’s hand.

My initial WHY arose when a mirrored family showed up in the protagonist family yard.
Had I known WHY I would have been more scared, but good Lord

I was immovable at the mayhem without my beloved why.
My film emotions were in place but were ‘activation’ shy.

Post the close of the movie, I had a clearer reflection of Jordan Peel‘s WHY.
Still, I feel I would have enjoyed a little more ACT 1 glue, i.e., sub-story insight.

Having said as much, this movie truly deserves all of its accolades and hype.
I enjoyed it in dimensions; Jordan Peel’s talent is quite ripe.

Hibbity Hump Day – Folks it’s Time To Slay

Hey, hey, hey!” Sounding like Rodg’s friend Dwayne,

Me? I’m awake and up for goodgame.
Me? I’m the vehicle in the creative lane.

You? You’ve been on my mind for quite some time now;
different reasons ‘why‘ and dimensions on the ‘how.’

Believe me now, when I say that I’m enjoying the climb
that has delivered me to this day; my creative grind.

I’m happy y’all.
In a world of uncertainty, I have the gall.
I wish happiness for us all.
Flex your positive gall.

It’s Hibbity Hump Day, which sounds a lot like “hibbity hop.”
Saying “hibbity hop” reminds me of The Sugar Hill Gang – Hip Hop don’t stop.

Something like The HUSTLER’S CONVENTION, I’m a one-stop Griot shop.
I’m something like Lightnin’ Rod; The HC is not a publication that you can cop

but you can stay tuned to multiple flows like my own, for most Griotte’s are quite steady.
We are storytellers of the day born. I learned as much from Fab5Freddy.

I forget not, much. I am intrigued by various moves made.
I chronicle the view in rhyme. Griot is my mode of Slay.

Good morning sweetheart. How goes your morn?
I’m up feeling refreshed – waiting on the dawn.

May I get you a cup of jo and a warm face towel?
Would you like an additional consonant? How about a vowel?

Oui Oui Oui – SHORTS TV

In Comedy, Communication, Griot, Movies, Networking, News, Self Improvement, TV Shows, Video on June 7, 2019 at 12:13 am

I love SHORTS…

For 14 hours a day and at least 5 days a week, I am watching short films. I keep the television in my office on DirecTV’s SHORTSTV channel. It’s a way for me to feel surrounded by my peers, be entertained, educated, and inspired. It’s also a great way to stay motivated on my own scriptwriting journey. I can’t watch a movie without counting shot types and how they are composed to convey the story. It’s a science, for sure.

Inference. My creative mind immediately goes to what happened before the film started and what could possibly happen after it has ended. I dabble in inference daily. It’s the stuff new creations are made of; it’s also the stuff that encourages me to stay on the path that I am pursuing. I’ve successfully completed several collegiate projects where I had to create characters and scripts for popular films and narrative series. I’ll admit that it can be tough to watch a film that you did not write, comprehend the characters, fall in love with the storyline and substories and create breath to strengthen and sustain its life — but I’m into it. Call me a script empath.

filmstrip-divider

It’s been a very long minute
since you and I have talked short films; all up in it.

So let’s begin it:

BITTER is an 11-minute film about a middle-aged man who finds himself shocked by his 21-year old daughters taste in men.
A well-seasoned rooster seems to be pecking his offspring-hen.

This is a comedy with a real gut feeling spin.
I think you’ll enjoy its ironic end.

FATIMA is a 29-minute short film
about the reality of an immigrant living in the dim.

The dim would be an “illegal status;” always over-the-shoulder looking.
For the good that Fatima was doing on her job, it resulted in police booking.

Though all could have cleared; resolved by proof of videotape
yielding one person with positional power to free or shoot to hell her fate.

That’s about all that I’m going to say about that. You should consider giving it a look.
Although revealing it could be quite healing. The ending was unexpected; I was shook.
.

IMPERVIA is a work of science fiction that breaths life into an impoverished family of droids. Yes – I said droids, as in androids; think ALIEN with Sigourney Weaver, remember the android on board? Formed like so, an impoverished family of droids is sought out by the governing authority to make some pretty conclusive decisions about the family’s habitation. My good friend and novelist, Marc Abbott stars as the protagonist and head of the droid family. His character is responsible for charting a vision that will yield them a taste of freedom; a way to re-enter society functionally under a system that currently deems them not worthy:

Last but not least – in fact, this one is quite the short thrill,
Christopher T. Wood reigns in this film titled: TIME TO KILL.

Not to be confused with Samuel L Jackson’s piece, A TIME TO KILL.
This short film is comical before getting comparably real:

filmstrip-divider

Unfortunately, BITTER and TIME TO KILL are the only two
that I could find complete short film views for you.

As for FATIMA and IMPERVIA, if you want to catch them completely,
the best suggestion I have for you is to tune into SHORTS TV.

Me? I’m amped up today because it’s Friday and I’ve got script composition on my mind,
I’m Qui
and between you and me, I’m glad to know VCR’s did not take with them the power to REWIND.

Me, you and ShortsTV — we’re going to be just fine.

THE INTRUDER

In Communication, Movies, Networking, News, Video on May 6, 2019 at 5:58 am

So Friday night my guy & I had a double date with Scott (Michael Ealy) & Annie, (Megan Good) and it was good.

We enjoyed a reel cookie cutter layout from Roger Corman‘s old hood.

I’m into seeing movies and move-me’s; God bless production movers –
It was good to see new chemistry in the old lab of The INTRUDER.

I’m not really sure about the initial intentions of reviving this piece –
It wasn’t about innovation, resolution or love’s slow release.

It was a pretty decent remake of the same-named film
Dennis Quaid did great as Charlie, following William Shatner’s hem

as a disturbed white man whose pissed at the presence of black neighbors.
In 1962 the film highlighted discourse and sewing divisive vapors.

In this years THE INTRUDER Dennis played a disturbed guy
with only a remnant of racism coursing through his spine.

He was the seller of a big and beautiful countryside home surrounded by lushes of green.
He wanted to sell it and still dwell in it — an attached squatter if you know what I mean.

Among creeping around the new couples home without them knowing,
Charlie was making plans to assume Scott’s life and duly start sewing

“home seeds” with Scott’s beloved Annie;
thinking he and she could start a family.

There was mayhem and while all scenarios clicked,
I was sad to see Scott repeatedly get his butt kicked

so many times from Charlie; but Scott was a desk nerd.
Annie drew strength from a pan and her fist
revealing survival skills when she s’kerd.

Deon Taylor is the director and producer of this remake
he is listed as the same in Traffik‘s sobering pace.

Remember that?
Paula Patton delivers like ‘Turner & Pat.’

Today’s Intruder film wasn’t hung up on race
but the face of a man with disturbing headspace.

Charlie’s daughter is all that he has in this world to co-sign his life,
but not even she wants anything to do with him because he took her mother’s life.

There were moments in the theater that I jumped out of unexpected fright.
It may be a remake film, but it’s perfect for a little date night.

There were hairy moments where I preferred to cuddle a little tight…
Like when Charlie was peeping-in on Annie in the shower one night.

I’m sure my guy enjoyed the double play:
him watching Megan in the shower and me being okay.

Annie’s body was a total fit slay. I admired the silhouette.
I’m thinking Charlie did too, he seemed to relish in her being wet.

Sex made a couple of debuts atop of the young couples sheets.
My guy and I were watching via Charlie’s secret peep.

It was line crossing  – still, actors Megan and Michael were flossing in this flick.
The legendary Dennis Quaid contorted his craft to display the encroaching counter-dick.

I’m sure the role won’t stick. Dennis is far too likable.
Catch him on the move in his string new of commercials.

Plus, you won’t be expecting the pivotal wording at the films end,
I’m Qui
and I figured I knew much about the script before going in…

I am pleased to concede that I didn’t.
Deon is pretty good at directing, producing and revealing the hidden.
