Are you in? Are you going?
Are you down with the united sewing?

This moment right here – this moment in time
deserves a griots lay and lots of shine.

President-obama_gangnam-party3

This day today is monumental and like no other
it is the presidential birthday of my all-star Leo brother.

I knew today would be a winner before I hit the door.
Ann Dunhams baby boy, her pride and joy — he’s 54.

He ain’t no kid anymore, but he’ll be always be hers by DNA root.
God bless the presidents parents contribution and bigger ups to Toot!

Toot is what he called his beloved Grandmother who often ran the show.
She died in 2008 but not a minute before she casted her presidential vote.

History is what it is and does so clearly note
that Toot voted for “Barry” before she exited life – yo!

And with that action she was good-to-go and left the fam legacy and Grade A stock,
in the hands of her grandson during his presidential run. Happy Birthday to Toots Barack!

Happy Birthday to the First Ladys matrimonial beau – Sasha and Malia’s dad.
I thank God for those starry nights, and love of heights that Ann and Barack Sr. had.

Today I am glad for the wise bundle of joy that heaven did send.
Today I am proud to say out loud HAPPY BIRTHDAY  Mr. President.

Your service has been outstanding. You reign like a kindred who keeps all sides fair.
Thank you for pushing to stop the life gushing – Thanks for the law of Affordable Health Care.

Party at Pride Rock – todays the day! It’s August 4th!

Excited about WE. Thanks for Uniting these States even more.

Get the sand out of your hair

wading in the water

There are several situations in the news that are out at sea,
like the 600 people sick on a cruise ship, says the CDC.

And never mind what’s going on with Governor Chris Christie
because that ill-fated cruise ship also boarded in Jersey.

The passengers are recovering – but still keep them in prayers,
and throw out a life saver for the governor, if you’ve a spare.

The State Of The Union Address popped off in the eve of last night
and I was glued to to the television to see him stand in the light.

His lead is still one of cheer, if you’re peering from my vantage view.
I’m most proud of the ACA initiative and am glad that he saw it through.

I am also glad the stock market is up and that unemployment is down
though the budget compromise seems to be where congress best clowns.

I wish a congress would get together for the people,
pass a livable minimum wage to keep our growth from looking feeble.

QE -2

The president also mentioned us leading in high tech manufacturing jobs.
Forfeiting “tech job creations” could result in another growth self-rob.

We’ve increased energy production and that’s good – more lights in more rooms
but is there anyway we could try to cut back on the energy we already consume?

And what about climate change? Our brothers across the aisle can surely agree
that what’s going on with global warming is causing levels to rise in the sea.

What about schooling? The Pres said he’s bringing head start back.
No child should be devoid of education – the USA isn’t a country of lack.

The president is working with the treasury to produce something called MyRA
Look out for that 401K-like news over the next few days.

President O also talked about the ACA during his addressing mention
He got quite the applaud for killing the hurdle of “pre-existing conditions.”

So if you know anyone without insurance – the penalties could hurt.
Be a gem – it shouldn’t cost a limb, help sign them up by March 31st.

POTUS also talked about the power of voting, women’s rights and the likes,
then he moved into gun control and the collective common sense plight.

He then touched on the military, no permanent footings in wars.
America is into setting world standards – it’s time to raise the bar.

The whole time the president spoke, John Boehner sat in the background
Looking like the water was high, and  he may slowly succumbing to a drown.

Even though nothing POTUS said, could have made a mad man madder,
if you saw Boehners lips, it seems the speech did make him sadder.

QE - 1

There was Cathy McMorris Rodgers who burned up in the camera lights
while pitching the republicans response, she caught a case of pink eye.

There were 3 more after hers, one was a Spanish translation of Rodgers speech,
following was Rand Paul, Ted Cruise and the Tea Partys preach.

Then Congressman Michael Grimm [R] didn’t like a reporters intro
so while mic’d, he threatened to angrily balcony throw
the young reporter  (see video)  – if he ever crossed him again.
Talk about taking a good SOTU speech to the chin.

And it’s no day a the beach, every leader hones the helms of his affair,
I’m Qui
and President O is keeps in step, so Get the sand out of your hair.

NEWS PERUSE – I’m cool with it

NP - Sarah Palin and PhilIt’s the weekend
babies and Christmas is on the way.
And I, on my News Peruse soapbox, have something to say:

Duck Dynasty’s Phil R. is cool with me.
So cool, I won’t even miss him on my TV.

Sarah Palin misses not an opening for a photo op
with Duck Dynasty – because like-minded unity rocks!

And so with the expression of a few of his intimate thoughts
Phil gets ‘the whistle,’ and his camera view stops.

I’m Cool with it.

Well the GOP is up in arms about the A&E firing situation.
Because politics doesn’t have enough of its own off-beat relations.

I mean, the healthcare act is picking up steam & soon to be is in full effect,
and many Americans now have access to insurance without going into debt.

I’m cool with it.
You can register HERE – #ItsYours – Go get it!

Also in N. Korean news is the towering Dennis Rodman again.
But this time it’s not for diplomacy but a ball career begin.

No! Dennis won’t be ball playing – he’s really done with that – yo!
But N. Korea has hired him to be their basketball coach.

So he’s all moved in. He’ll be working overseas.
And to be honest with you – that’s cool with me!

I’m cool with it.
I dig it.

We should all be guilty of working within our purpose.
Believe it or not, our self truths are what best serves us.

Miley Cyrus is on her purpose – whether you like it or not.
And Beyonce’s cutting up because her exec decisions are hot!

Bey put out a digital download album on i-Tunes last week
that pissed Target off, so they’ve got a little beef.

Target has press released that they won’t be selling it there.
Good thing Bey didn’t ask them too, so in essence – that’s fair.

I’m cool with it.

Bey is on her rise — just as 2013 was being noted “the year of low music sales.”
JayZ’s Mrs. prefers melodic blisses and shot the low-status-quo to hell.

She’s ending the year on a high note – all by herself.
I dig the few who own the view of acquiring good business wealth.

And Beyonce will end the year looking stealth,
As we jam her grown woman pelt.

I’m cool with it.

I really am. I’ve got irons on the fire too.
I’m exec producing 2 new shows & establishing a teen film troupe.

My hands are full and my God is good,
Every project I’m birthing’s in the Phoenix hood.

No need to do projects abroad – at least not at this time.
I’ve only been here for two years and the filming community is fine.

Let’s toast a little holiday wine. Let’s celebrate and have a fit.
Let’s thank God for all we have. For certain – I’m cool with it.

Look for all kinds of goodness to come out of the holidays for you.
A new year is coming and goodness is gunning. Prosperity is yours too.

Happy weekend wordpress kin. May God bless you on today,

that NEWS PERUSE she  – Merry that you even stopped my way.

Newsletter IMG2TAXING THE VERGE

Strapped for cash and seeking new ends,
Colorado voted marijuana in.

————-

And they’re taxing it. Guess whose not going to be so broke after all?

So what now? What does it mean? Will other states follow and cop funds off weed? Well there are already 20 states that have made it legal – and the laws are precise like the eyes of an eagle.

My dad has cancer and marijuana helps –
but to get it, he would have to go incognito/stealth.
He did look a little silly in ball cap (low) and shades –
but that’s the way ‘old-school’ remembered ‘the behave.’
The state dad resided in, did simply refute –
the thought of legalizing weed for medicinal use.
I’m sure they have their bureaucratic reasons –
but for the cancer patient, weed benefits are in season.

Well we couldn’t let dad live illegal, so we duly made our case – that dad step up his game and move to an appropriate state. How does your state stand on the issue? Check the chart summary – don’t let it miss you:

Sure, it’s been a while since we’ve had a News Peruse.
Remember: Trash the inapplicable and keep what you can use.

I just wanted to touch on topic: health – for medicinal purposes.
I just wanted to drop a little griot with no formal rehearsal spit.

I added a touch of graphics, in hopes to simply yield
you that old-timey, throwback-newsletter feel.

Today I’m inclined to yield to the past,
to reap some wisdom that I can use for gas.

I’m seeking that stuff that gets me going
so I’m over here in the office, positive seed sewing.

What are your plans? What kind of weekend are you bidding?

I plan to step-up to the plate and do some more home run hitting.

Life is that game that you cannot refuse.

The RADAR

In Communication, Griot, Networking, News, Self Improvement, Technology on September 29, 2013 at 1:03 pm

Did I mention that I subscribe to Ebony Magazine? Well I do and I love sharing the hue. There’s a staple section inside of the magazine called The Radar and Septembers radar was set on Needful Things and WHY THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT IS A MUST.  Steven Gray is the reporting journalist and he engages the subject like this:

1599-13147

Once all facets of Obamacare kick in, people without medical insurance will not necessarily have to frequent free travel clinics, such as this one in Los Angeles, and more African Americans will have access to quality-of-life improving health care.

Washington Insider – ARE WE A COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE? That’s the fundamental question before the country now that the federal government is finally rolling out the Affordable Care Act. Also known as Obamacare and signed into law more than three years ago, it’s the most sweeping overhaul of America’s health system in nearly a half century. The act provides health insurance to millions and will especially improve the lives of Blacks.

This is much-needed progress, especially because we are diagnosed with a variety of medical ailments – cancer, asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure– at astonishing rates. Nearly 20 percent of African-Americans don’t have a regular doctor, partly because it’s too expensive. Many of us live in neighborhoods where streets are too crime-ridden to walk or run peacefully. For many, the closest grocery store is a gas station that rarely sells fresh, affordable fruits and vegetables. Many of us are clinging to jobs that don’t offer health insurance or pay so little, we can’t afford to buy coverage. And for those of us who’ve lost our jobs in the last decade’s economic upheaval, sometimes the rent is more important than paying to visit a doctor or getting a prescription filled.

In so many ways, the new health care law changes the insurance game. It eliminates changes for preventive medical services such as mammograms and flu screenings, and discounts some brand-name drugs. No longer can insurance companies reject people who’ve been diagnosed with certain conditions. Starting in October, anyone can pick from a bunch of insurance plans in markets set up by states.

In 2009, President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi support Obamacare during a House Chamber session in Washington, D.C. Democratic leaders agree the health care battle isn't over yet.

In 2009, President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi support Obamacare during a House Chamber session in Washington, D.C. Democratic leaders agree the health care battle isn’t over yet.

Of course, there are critics, Chief among them is the perception — polarized by Republicans — that the new law is anti-business and will hurt the economy. Because the law requires businesses with more than 50 employees to provide health insurance, certain business owners have threatened to stop hiring rather than pay for insurance. But this vocal group accounts for a very small share of businesses. The Obama administration argues the new law will actually encourage entrepreneurship because people may feel they can afford health insurance while starting a new business.

Washington insiders aren’t declaring victory. In fact, they know the battle is just beginning. The truth is, the law is vulnerable. It’s hard to forget that in 2009, Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate, warned that the Democrats’ health care reform plan would force senior citizens into “death panels.” Earlier this year, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va), predicted the House would repeal the new law “in the near future.” To be sure, at least 20 state legislatures have passed measures challenging certain parts of the law, and also in the states whose governors and legislators bluntly refuse to execute the measure.

“There’s been a lot of fear-mongering,” says Rep. Donna Christensen, M.D., a Virgin Islands Democrat who leads the Congressional Black Caucus’ Health Braintrust. IN the coming months, you can expect the president and Democrats to travel the country holding town hall meetings to draw support and awareness about the new law. Another challenge seems simple but is complicated: to push people who’ve not had health care to take advantage of the new opportunity and, ultimately, adopt healthy behaviors. Another worry stems from upcoming elections and the possibility of Republicans gaining control of both congressional chambers in 2014 or 2016.

Above Right: House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Whip Eric Canter (R-Va.), two staunch opponents of the Affordable Care Act, attend the House GOP Conference on Capital Hill in Washington, D.C., in 2010.

The health care law is not only Obama’s boldest public policy accomplishment, it’s an important, tangible step in making sure all of us get a piece of the American Dream. Challenges to the law should be interpreted as an assault on our safety net. If we lose it, we’re no longer a compassionate country.

Now that I think about it, we’ve come a long way
From caring to not caring to implementing the ACA.

Sure there are critics and those that surely oppose
but for those needing medical care – this is the card to behold.

You won’t be turned down for pre-existing conditions
You won’t be reduced to medical history pretenses,

I don’t see the big deal in having a “you must have insurance” bar.
After all that’s exactly why we all have insurance on our car.

Who in the world would seriously hate
everyone having insurance in the event something breaks?

No one’s getting free insurance, and a single pay code was thrown out,
