Naked on The Grassy Knoll

In Communication, education, Griot, Music, Video on February 14, 2022 at 5:01 am

Speaking of

A Naked Erykah Badu on the grassy knoll in Dallas where President Kennedy was shot, always stirs up controversy. The video “WINDOW SEAT” is phenomenal (if you ask me) and for a plethora of reasons: Unbridled ART being #1.

Ms. Badu walks the downtown streets of Dallas towards the exact spot where President Kennedy was assassinated. During her walk she sheds her jacket, shirt, pants, bra and panties — ultimately revealing the “EVOLVING” tattoo (message) across the upper part of her back (between the shoulders). Once she reaches the approximate spot where President Kennedy was shot, we hear gunfire and a shapely NAKED Erykah Badu falls dead in the road. At that point we hear the following narration:

“THEY (playing it safe) are quick to assassinate what they do not understand.
They move in packs ingesting fear more and more with every act of hate on one another.
They feel more comfortable in groups – LESS GUILT to swallow.
They are us. This is what we’ve become: Affraid to RESPECT the Individual.
A single person within a circumstance can move one to CHANGE;
to love herself.
EVOVLE.

By-God Erykah is right! WE are THEY –collectively.

More over that, the video demonstrates Erykah being “one person within a circumstance” — a circumstance that the city of Dallas once investigated for possible copyright infringements. The investigation died on that hill after a quick YOUTUBE search showed no infringement issues with this video by MATT & KIM “Lessons Learned.”  Window Seat was created in homage to “Lessons Learned.” Blunt inspiration.

Erykah’s video was edited to have a “dated & historical feel” much like the original footage archived of President Kennedy during his visit to Dallas, TX. It worked. It’s genius. Genius in two parts, [1] by recalling history and relating it to our thwarted journeys and [2] the obvious plea found in the chorus that is still relevant and ever so necessary. Let us all give and receive in return:

“I need you to want me.
I need you miss me.
I need yo’ attention!
I need you next to me.
I need someone to clap for me.
I need yo’ direction.
Come back – Come back Baby.
Come back.”

I’m back šŸ™‚ and I’m so glad I’ve got a WINDOW SEAT into the vision of Ms. Erykah Badu’s artsy exhibition of history and present — to date. What did you think about it?

Yes-Yes! It is that time again that we focus our talks on America’s Black kin.
Good morning, Friday. Let a historical & insightful high-day be our productive end.

Shall we begin? I am so happy to showcase BE, please do believe me.
We’ll start with a community BEST FRIEND, that the industry calls Saweetie.

Saweetie featuring Doja Cat

Whether you are familiar with Saweetie’s work or not, she is still a candidate BEST FRIEND,
after all she is of entertaining roots; MC Hammer and Gab Union are her kin.

Did you even know? I credit her talent and business acumen
to her focus, versatility and side-stepping to-win not to mention

she is a CANCER.
You know how I feel about ā€˜em; calculated riskers – no chancers.

She’s a crab in a barrel that a lot of folks want to be in.
The BILLBOARD AWARDS has put her in an elite class of women…

Saweetie will be an Honoree at Billboard’s Women In Music Awards section.
Good genes will only get you so far, she pens and strengthens her own connections.

She means just as much business as the next excelling woman or man.
We had to feature her this month because we enjoy her mind as well as her jams.

McDonald’s is all over her merch, so we are not alone.
Saweetie is the one to keep your eye on; she’s worth a wrinkle in your dome.

There are a lot of up-and-comings in the rap game,
she’s more than a glimmer, and insists that you remember her name:

Producing – Since 2016

To balance page one of this 2022 Key Black History Multimedia Mogul insert
we gotta talk about T.I. and how no track lacks a banging verse.

I won’t be so corny as to attempt to ā€œfake 411 hem,ā€
and introduce T.I. when I know that most of you know him.

Oh, please don’t be coy or shy.
It’s okay if you Tip your audio dials to T.I.

He’s about wisdom, family and art; no one can refute it.
He’s got the hardest bars, good Lord, but he’s much more than music:

Producing – Since 1999

T.I. is known for his music, but it’s no secret that family and diversity are tops in his life. He has five children, and not all of them are from his power partner Tiny, and they still manage to all look alike. There’s no way to feel genetically embarrassed if you are a T.I. Produced Harris. I am convinced.

Aside from being good looking
this man never stops success cooking!

When will he get old? He must be a vampire.
His capacity is broad, and his music videos are fire:

Understanding bar lyrics are a great way to get to know a rap star.
T.I. tips the scales like a LIBRA by birth but has a fear-not lion’s heart.

He lives a life of purpose and I for one am so very glad.
My community is about laced-up unity and T.I. is respected like an Unc or a Dad.

And ain’t nobody mad because we love supporting go-getter-goals
and are always ISO Black Excellence via MultiMedia Moguls.

It’s no secret that the Black community is the 2nd largest consumer of U.S. retail goods.
We are large manufactures of MultiMedia, please return the love and support our hoods.

Pulling back the cloak of ā€œthe unknown neighborā€ mystery,

Serving-up more than tea, this is modern day Black History.

50 CENT on The BEAT

.
Curtis Jackson kicked-it with Ari Melber today
and reiterated that he doesn’t drink or smoke a lil’ hay.

That’s what up! He presented a very clean and clear say,
so Ari took him to task on his rap lyric lay.

50 Cent is all about business action
so he pointed to pop culture in the voice of Mr. Jackson

and made it abundantly clear
that an artful perspective is what he divvy’s the ear.

With his knowledge of the drink and the smoke
he made a niche for himself while avoiding the okie doke.

He has written about the art of his structure in a book, yo:
HUSTLE HARDER, HUSTLE SMARTER
chronicles a successful hustlers to and fro.

50Cent-Hustle_book

The art of perspective therein…

Now that’s ART like baroque. I do like his style.
From his lyrics you’d think that ‘Fiddy lives a life of wild.

Ooo child, it is refreshingly great to know
Mr. Jackson is about business action;
and that it’s his business to “put on a show.”

To think that he has composed a rap persona that yields his reality much dolla’s,
makes a sapeosexual like myself want to stand up and holla:

Do that thang’ Mr. Curtis Jackson, “50.”
Don’t ever stop. Continue to cop and do rock the slang name “Fiddy.”

I think your smile is pretty. Thanks for flashing for all to see,

Dropping griot about Ari, The Beat and 50 Cent on MSNBC.

It’s the weekend, y’all! Get sharp or get pretty;
put your web cam on and jam a song produced by 50

or a series.
