Good morning and good Lordy,
Irma came rolling in right after Harvey.

Uncle Corey insisted that he hunker down in Key West.
Most of the other fam went on the lam — but Unc was up for the test.

I haven’t heard of his status yet. I’m still praying for a rain thwart & stall.
To the McIntosh fam that is my connective clan: please send a text or call.

The weather in Arizona is on ‘beautiful ball.’
Sky – clear, sun – out and the birds are on ‘call.’

To those on the south coasts: I’m praying for y’all.
And after y’all hear from Uncle Corey send us a text or call.

I have a little sister in Houston that survived Harvey’s brut.
The pics she posted online revealed the saddest truth,

Her home is flooded and looks interior destroyed.
The love remains minus the clothes, furniture and toys.

She has two teen children – and within the two is a vast capacity of love.
I saw instagram vids of the shelter and her kids – they brought with them ‘the fun.’

Their high spirits glowed through the video bytes.
Their socio-economics were disrupted but their high spirits buffed it–
They’re up for the challenge of rebuilding their lives. 👍🏾

Good morning and good Lordy,
Irma came in hot and co-signed Harvey

to convey a message that Earth is unhappy.
Her land is carelessly sheared; her forests are assets – not a beard
and her waters are litter-nappy.

The gasoline and coal that we’ve burned…
Earth is speaking. Will you listen and learn?

Is it too much of an inconvenience to consider the fact
That we’re living a bit excessive? Must we eat all of the fat?

I had a car accident about  a month ago
and figured it may be time to upgrade the car, yo.

But then I started questioning, ‘Where am I driving to?
I work from home; less fro and more “to.” 🤗

Then I started adding up the good of a new car, for me:
I came up with shiny paint, minus my down payment bank and transit compliments of “Oui.”

Hmph. That isn’t enough for me. Incentive remains to bite the “new car challenge.”
And don’t go giving me that mumbo-jumbo about “better miles per gallon

conversation.
I am not driving across the nation.😆

In fact, as of late I’ve been walking a lot more,
enjoying nature and reaching my FitBIT score.

I’m also looking at the trees, the grass and the cars that pass by,
and I’m thinking “Lord bless the speedy travelers.” I’m guilty too – I shan’t lie.

Do I really NEED a new car?

Ever so consciously I awoke and arose today
while the rain whips the south coasts out of shape…

On another note

Beasley is Cold!

What about the NFL game last night?
Dak, Whitten, Williams and Elliot set it off right.

They brought an Irma’esque storm
That sounded a giants alarm.

I don’t think Dak wanted another repeat
of last years NY Giants double meet & defeat.

Last night the Cowboys did ‘the dang thang’
and shared with the Giants a lil bit of hurricane.

Watching the game was a great way to pass the time
when reality and chaos was hard on my mind.

After a full inhale of plays and a satisfying slow release
I realized Dem Boys came to play. Godspeed on being BEAST‼️

I’m happy today for life, love and those that hurricane survive,
I’m Qui
Loving the A-Z because amidst troubled skies she has the best sunrise.

Give the creator thanks if you were able to wake up and open your eyes.
Yes, YOU!

Good Morning Monday

3-2-1-smile.gifChild, you’ve been on my mind
The DRAFT came and the draft went
and The COWBOYS did fine.

We needed help on the Corner Back line and scored.
We drafted 3 that couldn’t be ignored:
nfl-draft-2017-cowboys.PNG

Taco was an awesome take away. We drafted him in the 1st round.
So Good morning Monday, let’s chart another funday
and start this day off with a productive pound.

So how did you sleep last night? Pretty sound?
I did until that ol’ rooster came around.

That’s what I call my iPhone 7’s alarm. The tone is just dirty.
Well that’s how I feel when it goes off every morning at 4:30.

I’m always like, “Good Morning Monday.” It is you, whom I’m so glad to see.
Then I grab my cup of jo and mosey on over to chat it up here on QE.

What did you think about the White House Correspondence dinner?
The president didn’t attend and I read the zingers were  winners.

I didn’t attend it or watch it – I had an aging parent on my hip,
but I did manage to read a few highlights and see some funny clips.

I don’t have video links to share with you at this time, honey,
but I do have a few quotes that I thought was funny:

    1. Poking Fun at Kellyanne Conway’s use of “Alternative Facts”
“I would say it’s an honor to be here, but that would be an alternative fact. It is not. No one wanted to do this, so of course it lands in the hands of an immigrant. That’s how it always goes down. No one wanted this gig! No one. Don Rickles died just so you wouldn’t ask him to take this gig. RIP to Don Rickles, the only Donald with thick enough skin to take a joke like that. RIP to the legend.”
    2. Comparing the Trump Administration to Anthony Weiner
“For the record, the WHCA is a group of journalists who cover the White House. They are not King Joffrey’s goons. So I am so glad you guys are all here tonight to honor a great tradition. Because we all know this Administration loves deleting history faster than Anthony Weiner when he hears footsteps. So thank you for being here.”

3. On Trump’s Absence at the WHCD
“I get it, we gotta address the elephant thats not in the room. The leader of our country is not here and that’s because he lives in Moscow. It’s a very long flight. It’s hard for Vlad to make it. Vlad can’t just make it on a Saturday, it’s a Saturday! As for the other guy, I think he’s in Pennsylvania because he can’t take a joke.”
“I get why Donald Trump didn’t want to be roasted tonight. By the looks of him, he’s been roasting nonstop for the last 70 years. Historically, the President usually performs at the White House Correspondents; Dinner, but I think I speak for all of us when I say he’s done far too much bombing this month.”

In other news have you been watching that hit show wherein Sanaa Lathan was hired?
It broadcasts on FOX, the story lines are as explosive as it’s title: SHOTS FIRED.

Have you seen it? If not, YOU MUST. It’s a view from our community; a default that we face,
It stars Helen Hunt, Will Patton and that dude that played Jesse Owens in Race.

You did see the film Race, didn’t you? Well fear not if you did not see.
It’s never too late to cop a view on your plate via a myriad of avenues including DVD.

shots-fired-sanaa-stephan.pngSanaa’s co-star on SHOTS FIRED does have a name —
His parents blessed him: Stephan Jones and I like his game.

The cast chemistry is great and the writers are keeping it real.
SHOTS FIRED has that direct art-imitating-life kind of feel.

What makes this show different than other cop shows that I don’t watch,
is that besides the banging story lines I like this POV of DOJ & the cops.

It reveals to me that while sensational cases are exploitable flirty —
this series makes a strong case that ALL COPS ARE NOT DIRTY.

My word, have you ever heard? And isn’t this important to see?
FOX is heading up another winner, this could have easily been on ABC.

Ooo wee, the cast chemistry is sweet and the writers are so direct.
Ashe Akino and Preston Terry navigate into the scary to keep all in check.

Not quite Mulder and Scully or NY Undercover’s Det. Williams and Torres.
Ashe Akino and Preston Terry are noir pioneers and DOJ lead.

I find the view to be attractive, appealing, educating and a new must.
It’s nice to see men and women of the law that look like me – bridging trust.

output_UbDZXy.gifWe are people with menial differences like the color on the front side of our hands.
Though we are greater connected in spirit; way to easy to relate to and understand.

This is what SHOTS FIRED is yielding me. A little comradery connect.
Again the cast, the writing crew, location and appealing views will keep me coming back.

Good Morning Monday! I’m awake and watching ON DEMAND, 🙂
I’m Qui
Sipping and chatting it up with thee, because the view before us is never bland.

From the fictional write ups to DC and the real law of the land…
Child, we’d be better off to put it all in Gods hands.

I do.
Good Morning Monday, I love you, too.

Water Cooler ChatGood morning sweetheart, I’ll make this quick
I’ve upped my level of fitness schtick. 🙂

Yes child, today finds my obliques and my core
a little less fat and very much sore.

Yesterday I spent 8-hours at the ASU Athletic complex
with a lady named Allison Petersen – we made a connect.

I’m a bit high energy, I dance when I walk
Words dance by cadence – I do it when I talk,

I put my money where my mouth was yesterday
and committed to ZUMBA for hours totaling 8.

It was a licensing course, I was sweat riddled – shiny abs and bouncing mammories.
My #FitBit clocked 27,000 steps and I burned 3000 calories.

I don’t eat 3000 calories on any day, so YES – I lost quite a bit of weight yesterday.
Today 2 Aleve have got me on the ease  and I’m off to conquer the day.

The weekend was long, the weekend was strong and I duly had my way.
I admit I’m a workaholic and I thank God — dont want to stop it, my work is my play.

Heyyy! That kind of outlooks sets up good at the start of any day thus I am up
with a cup of jo on the desktop  – yo, and the effects are hyping #MyCrunk!

I’m up, I’m awake and I’m out the door.

qui-desk-nov2016Good morning sweetheart, I hope that you are well
and have taken a couple of #SelfPreservation moments for yourself.

I dream a lot when I’m asleep. Doth you and do you ever recall?
I usually wake up in the midst of my dreams clutch and yes! — I remember all.

Though as of late the dreams have been a bit different
and I seem to have the option to forget them or to remember.

I journal a lot in book bind, but as of late, I’ve been a little lazy.
I’ve not been doing much journaling but dream noting before the memories get hazy.

I did no dream journaling this weekend, but did I dream? BOY DID I.
I have also retained their memories — and I most certainly did not try.

The dreams have been adventurous in nature, but not necessarily my go-to-fun.
While all may need interpreting on many levels I think I’ve decoded one.

I dreamed of snow on my family’s estate home on a hillside back in a time before my birth.
The snow on the ground: is a metaphor for the cold feelings; my family’s dysfunctional girth.

It was in the final stages of melting and for all that it’s worth
that’s good news for me, my relatives and my last nerves. 😀

There were many more signs and I’m about decoding dreamland scenes…
If you’re nosy like me, drop in on this site and give a go at understanding your dreams:

I keep the link bookmarked inside of my google chrome desk.
I keep my dream research notes real close to my vest.

Who the heck cares about what I’m dreaming?
I do, because it helps me to tighten my seaming.

Speaking of tightening productive seams, when was the last time you tuned into OWN?
I do it every so often because I’m black and I’m grown ISO which generational seeds were sewn

that yield to curse and give way to legacy love.
I tune into OWN because I’m a #SelfEmpowering thug.

This weekend while I was thugging, I came up on Iyanla V.’s show
a show participant read the following piece and I was like ‘Woah.’

I like it very much so I thought I’d share it with you,
and anytime you’re in a bind of angst finds – here’s what you do:

Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott (21) celebrates with quarterback Dak Prescott (4)

The Dallas Cowboys won again. This makes our record 8-1.
Dak will continue to lead the pack, but Romo is not done.

Romo needs time to heal from all of the previous career jeer sacks.
Switching in a hurry isn’t for Jerry; therefore Ro will have Daks back.

Romo isn’t tripping at all – I’m channeling that he isn’t even really that mad
He just wants to go to the Superbowl and he’ll take a captains ride with Dak.

I’m surely pitching for the future. I’d love to see the Cowboys back in the playoff’s.
I was a Troy Aikman girl, then Romo changed my world and now Dak is the new cost.

It’s a bit of a new fit, but isn’t that life.
We just had an election and voted in strife.

The coolest stuff happens when you’re compassionate and give

On THIS Monday Morning

On THIS Monday Morning, I am doing the most.
Yep, I lost a bet — I’m making bacon and toast.

It was a good Sunday night and the Dallas Cowboys won.
I was tussling with logistics – I was having all of the fun.

We’re in between a move, as the end of the month does approach.
We’re focused on building an estate that will acreage encroach

at least a .5-mile radius around my erected structure.
The custom builder I’m courting is an architectural MOTHER! 🙂

Today I was up, yet again, at the crack of dawn,
working out, running logistic routes and getting my “move” on.

I was happy at the onset – I woke with no yawning.
On the real, I was happy about kicking it with you THIS Morning.

What have you got up, what’s your future looking like?
Gotta presentation today? Gonna grab the mic?

Gonna “show ’em what you’ve got;” gonna carry your weight?
I’m down with doing the most — but not too much on one plate.

Make it good for thee, all smiles and no mourning.

I’m Qui

May I please leave a BFT?

In Communication, Networking, News, Self Improvement on April 20, 2016 at 6:18 am

bad-wait-staff

Friday afternoon (2pm), my guy & I dined at LoLo’s in Scottsdale
and just like thier venue in Gilbert, the wait service was HELL.

However, the collard greens were swell and I was well fed.
Yes! I always order the catfish, double greens and cornbread.

It’s one of their SOUL FOOD PLATTERS and I absolutely like it very much.
The cook is great but not the staff-of-wait. Hard to leave a TIP of BIG LOVE. 😔

I’m a BFT! A Big FAT Tipper. I love to show off.
I’ve been known to leave double of what the meal cost.

But when service is good I can not refuse.
I want to shower them with appreciation – “a paper woo.”

And I do, but Friday afternoon did not fall in suit.
The last four times I’ve been to LoLo’s the service was boo-boo.

Ooo-ooo twice in Gilbert & twice in Scottsdale.
Mrs. Whites Golden Rule is what it is – a consistent spell.

Mrs. White is LoLo’s grandmother and her establishment is in downtown Phoenix.
LoLo’s has two restaurants that I’ve tried to haunt – their fam is originally from the DFW mix.

I’m from the DFW, Dallas-Fort Worth, (TX) metroplex.
So finding LoLo in Phoenix was a pleasure and I had to connect

I love picking up the check – I love having my water glass refilled.
LoLo’s serves great food but the wait service is a HUGE lack of thrill.

Our waitress was horrible. I don’t know what else to say.
I’m not sure this was an experience I wanted to Yelp away.

Somebody please tell LoLo that ol ‘girl Qui is a BFT. Please!!

She’s really stumped on Old Mitch McConnells grunt as it pertains to the last prez election.

Mitch McConnell: Who did you vote for in the last presidential race?
Alison: (the look of encroachment is all over her face).

But why? Why the un-comfortability? It’s really not that serious.
If you voted for the loser, you weren’t the only one delirious.

KY has their hands full, as we all do with the upcoming month.
Today is the perfect day for a NEWS PERUSE hump.

Happy Hump Day babies! I hope you woke up smiling,

It duly interrupted my thought of write.

I duly enjoyed ‘the cypher’ intro’s

Doug E. Fresh took the mic and his mom was in tow.
Doug E. Fresh kept it 100% and stole our hearts during the show.

Because when it came to old school dances, last night I pulled plenty.

Other good news is:  unemployment is down.
That’s great! No one wants to wear the unemployment crown.

COWBOYS RB Joseph RandleAlso, in the news, a lone situation with a real weird handle:
Frisco PD arrested Dallas Cowboys RB Randle.

It appears to be a very curious charge
citing Randle stole cologne, $40 and drawls.

Felt compelled to steal some smell goods and other sundrys?

I’m a true COWBOY fan, but not much familiar with RB Randle.Dallas Defense Takeover 2014

The Future looks like…

In Communication, Griot, Networking, Self Improvement, TV Shows on September 16, 2013 at 1:51 pm

A VH1 PLUS MUSIC video line-up
is how my morning yawn was cut:

And just like I hoped, the sun came up most beautifully
encouraging me to paint my own day more hue’fully.

Even though the Dallas Cowboys lost yesterday
I’m no sore loser – I’m still up to play.

And so today…

I find myself busy doing script work. I have so many open ended scripts – good stock, sure, but I would feel much better, (I think), if I could close most of them up. I kind of fancy open-ended scripts. It’s a great place to tack down an idea without having to commit to the end… just yet. Often times while a script is in marinate, life steps forth with the perfect situation to write about, that I never would have thought to create in a million years. Only the future could have produced some of the fantastic endings that I have been able to construct in script. I like the future and always look forward to it.

I look to our children. They are our future. How are we shaping our future? What are we putting into the soil of the budding plants? Will our future blossom or shrivel up like a raisin in the sun? A raisin in the sun? Pardon me, I couldn’t resist the dramatic flair, but it’s the perfect segway to tilt the conversation towards something dear to my heart that I miss and would love to revive: AFTER SCHOOL SPECIALS.

After School SpecialsDo you remember them? They were after school shows, (no longer than 60 minutes in broadcast) that would present adolescent situations and teach us how to approach and handle them positively. I found them to be very necessary then and am happy to look back over my life and confirm that the after school anthology absolutely helped me through incident after incident, assuring me that I wasn’t weird but indeed life was. The shows imparted wisdom. Great scripts, great casting and great timing, but most of all, the shows imparted wisdom.

This is where I am in my script writing today. I’m masterfully shaping tomorrow. Many of you know I am largely vested in teen casting and that most of my work stars my own offspring. Besides being affordable labor she has awesome story ideas and has taken to scene framing and shooting. I’m quite excited about her growth and interest in film studies. She dropped her  photography course to do film studies. WooHoo! Qui Films has a budding ARTSY flower and we’re glad about it. Perhaps this is why I am so interested in bringing back those after school specials… I know someone special who could benefit from them.

The Future looks like whatever we show them.

Princeton Study_excerpt

[Ref Source: Princeton.edu/futureofchildren]

My teen daughter wakes up to VH1 music videos and goes to bed to reality shows. This is her first year dating, so CATFISH is her favorite show. She vows not to fall into that fishing hole, (dating by social media). Catfish isn’t an after school special, but it is serving its purpose.

The Future looks like whatever we show them and I’d like to keep the music videos, simply because music is a serious form of art expression, (as is video production), and I’d like to add to that: after school specials.

What do you think?

We need more go getters and less discouraged (involuntary) moochers,

BoFA got his bail out and now he’s taxing you an additional five.

I’m pretty ticked because again we the people bailed them out.
