Humping Good Fashion

In Communication, Griot, Networking, Self Improvement on January 13, 2016 at 7:30 am

a-lion-is-like-a-LyonThere are a number of fashionable women that showcase on my 55″ flat screen weekly that I love. There’s Olivia Pope, Annalise Keating, the women on RHOA: Phaedra, Porsha and Kenya to name a few, and of course we can’t forget that diva at the top of EMPIRE. My goodness — I’m surrounded and because I’m a workaholic I rely heavily on my DVR to hold the 411 until I can dedicate an entire day to going through 3-4 episodes at a time to peep garment styles. It’s a necessary.

So let’s review a pic or two where hair, make-up and wardrobe all came through. Ooo! Nothings excites me more than:

.
RHOA_phaedra

Besides being an attorney and a funeral home owner Phaedra Parks is “hair and makeup.” I don’t care what this woman is wearing her hair and makeup is always on fleek. Eyebrows, lips and her fabulous eyeshadow color blending is always stunning. Watching Phaedra give me face makes me miss Married to Medicine’s: Quad Lunceford.  I can’t wait for the new season to fire up.

RHOA Kenya

.The USA twirls every time Kenya Moore is doing her thing. Have you ever seen a woman so flawless in action? If you haven’t check her out on BRAVO: Real Housewives of Atlanta every Sunday at 8/7c. I’ll never forget how flawless she looked when she took that lick from Porsha during a reunion episode. She recovered like a true diva with a mouthful of damnation — that played out royally for Porsha at the start of the following season. Kenya is the real deal. I like everything about her. As for those who feel otherwise — they will just have to get over it. I have a feeling she’s on display for the long run.

.
RHOA_PorshaWhat can I say about this lady? She’s just so darn pretty. Porsha is a member of the RICKY SMILEY MORNING SHOW in addition to being a fashionable, eye candy cast member on the RHOA. From head to toe, this lady knows how to work it! Check out her INSTAGRAM view too: OooLaLa! Porsha lends fashionable insight every time the camera is pointed her way. THANKS Porsha! #ShineON.

.Life is a SCANDAL and you very well know it, but good God I love the way ABC’s Olivia Pope shows it! I can never miss an episode of ‘a day in the life of Olivia Pope.’ The writers, hair, make-up and wardrobe designers are spot on – episodically. And while different retail outlets claim to have an Olivia Pope fashion line,” unless I hear it from the lips of ABC’s Scandal Wardrobe Director that this is her choice, I’m not buying it. Recreating a similar line at an affordable price is a nice try, however, Olivia’s look cut’s no corners and is not cheap. Let the spending scandal begin. #CopTheLook

htgwm_annalisekeatingHow to get away with staying on top of the fashion chain is much tougher than learning HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER. Yeah? Sometimes it feels like it may be, but Annalise Keating seems to have no problem staying on top of the a.m. fashion conquer regardless of what mayhem the midnight hour throws her way. Fashion, make-up, stunning shoes and the right wig is crucial. Annalise knows how to “put it on” and get away with it. I like that.

But wait! Don’t nobody move until Cookie comes in!!
Those shoes, that bag, that hat — that grin.

Whenever I feel edgy and want to start a fire,
I channel the fashions of that Diva Cookie, from EMPIRE!

Bossy & Bad — her attire fits the bill.
I resort to Cookies wardrobe for any battle that may be uphill.
Never thwarting the hat or the heels.

Humping Good Fashion is for real.

Today is Wednesday and I’m Humping GOOD FASHION.
A guide to what’s right is all I’ve been asking.

I still cop the magazines in the checkout line,
however the RHOA girls make it all come alive.

I DVR a few shows and suddenly my fashion thrives.
Using fashion as revenge is enough to make a girl cry.

I love it. Clean shoes and a nice hat always compliments sweet,

Blinds wide open: Black Reality Shows

In Comedy, Communication, Griot, TV Shows on June 19, 2015 at 3:49 am

airing-dirty-laundry

Wether you like it or not, your “family laundry” is on the line
being aired via satellite/cable, network TV and even the Vine.

Cutting UP in the ATLReal Housewives of Atlanta, and Kandi’s Ski Trip
precursor Love & Hip Hop ATL and Married to Medicine‘s schtick.

All of the aforementioned shows are channeled through my DirecTV.
I DVR them all — because they each mirror a little bit of me.

Ooo wee the view can be dirty y’all — yet entertaining, all the same.
Tv reality is a pal to me and the women sport the most amazing mane.

The main thing that gets me is how with ease black folk are airing out their laundry.
Mom always said, “keep that in the house,”; the opportunity $$ to air out – presents quandry. 🙂

But the fact that these folks are doing it and that I relate and am entertained,
kind of makes me happy that they have chosen to do the dang thang.

To bare the truth in vain. I say vain, because paydays do follow.
You act an ass for a little cash — a hundred thou ain’t hard to swallow.

I look forward to the next broadcast of each one listed.
My DVR has my back just in case my schedule causes me to miss it. 🙂

I’m loving the diversity pouring through my TV.
It reminds me there are other brown skinned go-getters out there like me.

They’re giving it up for what they want, even it it includes
airing dirty laundry and even yielding another ‘the blues.’

I’m hardly a ‘blues yeilder,’ especially not on a global scale.
I try to contain myself to ‘in-house’ — just not into ‘broadcasting my hell.’

screenplayBut I am into scripting it – the familial hell that doth cross my mind.
I’m into the scripts of Empire and Power. There’s gold in them there finds!

Have you been watching?
I had to order STARZ to continue show clocking

Power.
Fresh content with no sour.

It’s a pretty attention grabbing hour and I’m watching.
Mundane broadcasting is what the melanin revolution is blocking.

I like it and for the next broadcasts – I am excited,
I’m Qui
Inspired to continue cultivating my own — I can’t help but write it.

PS. There’s one other show that I find to be “the sweetest scripted bombs!”
Believe it or not, it comes on nick and it’s called Instant Mom.
Have you seen it? It’s a family hit!
The reflections of a new bride with instant kids.
They came along with her new spouse…
it’s what family is all about.

XO!!

Good people know…

RICHARD CABRAL, ELVIS NOLASCO, CAITLIN GERARD, JOHNNY ORTIZ, BENITO MARTINEZ, TIMOTHY HUTTON, FELICITY HUFFMAN, W. EARL BROWN, PENELOPE ANN MILLER

Good people know each other. Good people can’t help the effect
of what happens when they get together on productive terms and connect.

Not exactly highlighting Vernon’s good, a winter series heats us best,
however,  just as we climaxed on Empire, we had a family death.

Vernon Turner took one to the head– ’tis Andre’s wife delivered the blow.
The writers were riding smooth sails then instructed to “make a head roll.”

Lee Daniels didn’t have a problem with it – to keep all characters, I’m sure that he tried.
Malik Yoba said he was shooting episode 12 when he first learned that his character would die.

He died in episode 12 — Talk about an impromptu early retirement.
Malik is good people indeed, he’ll land again in a good environment.

Empire went out pretty good, and Vernon died for no good reason.
Please believe I’m hooked and can’t wait to jam it again next season.

Olivia Pope is good people, the new guy at the bar is the payer.
Olivia is in search of something more, she’s acting as “the role player.”

She’s all dolled up with no conversation, ready to tangle and twist.
I like the cut that Shonda’s giving…a shade of grey is in our midsts.

And then there’s American Crime. Have you been watching this cast at play?
Good people know, that this is the show, and we miss not a broadcasting day.

If you haven’t been watching, lucky you – it’s still quite early,
we’re on episode two, not much back work to do, if you jump on now and hurry.

I’m digging the network’s. TV is quite seasonably greasy.
They’ve got black folks reigning yolks, like living life is easy.

And it can be, if you set life up to allow you the room to grow
and network with the like minded, because Good people know

how to band together and make fantastic things happen.
Shonda and Viola Davis keep #HTGAWM cracking.

Good people know good-and-well that if you get in trouble
your best bet is to call 1-800-Keating on the 911 double.

No need to commit murder, Good people know,
that while living black you’ll attract harrass;
Legal up or to jail you go.

American Crime is a good show of that and Mr. Carter Nix
is currently under lock and key for being in the wrong mix.

He’s the black dude that’s accused of killing Barb and Russ’ son.
I know good people when I see them and most parents are #1.

Matt’s parents represent a demographic, but they don’t represent mine.
John Ridley has it going on in the creation of American Crime.

He’s got my Thursday evening time slot and my viewing attentions;
I couldn’t refuse highlighting this hue – good creation deserves a mention.

Are you watching any of these shows?
I am because Good people know

variety is the spice of life and that, this will never change.
Good people also know, the tide brings and takes shows
they need your viewership to maintain.

To all Good people that I know, I do beg of thee,
to give American Crime a chance to make tv history.

So far, I’m digging all that I see – yippee and yo!
I’m Qui
Watching a little TV, because Good people know…

What’s REEL’y up.
