Four 10×2

In Communication, Griot, Networking, News, Politics, Self Improvement on April 20, 2017 at 4:20 pm

420-holidayGood evening Munchie! 🙂 I’m here to divvy the sticky skinny
of the goods in Arizona on this day of 420.

Gimme! Gimme that tincture in a medicinal frame…
I could use it for this maxillofacial pain.

Despite Marijuana not being legal in all 50 states
Seems citizens support legalizing it– but it’s too little too late.

mmj-tincture.jpgOf states that are bold enough to put it on the ticket
The opposition to shut it down – comes in the thicket.

Personally I think law makers who voted it down smoke pot – the most.
And I think the smokers who voted it down don’t deserve to smoke no ‘mo.

Yes!! There is no such thing as a conservative pot smoker
But let them tell it – they’re true old school stoners; relic tokers.

They hail it “a gift from God; an all natural intimate sport.”
Q: So if you enjoy it so much, what did you vote it down for?

Medical card numbers soar, as the masses realize
You don’t have to take RX meds to pain disguise.

Knowledge is on the rise. The more I read, the more I score plenty.
Knowledge is in abundance today on this 420:

MMJ Legal States
Qualifying Medical Issues
What to do next?

The time, here in Arizona is 4:20 on the dot,
I’m Qui,
Elevated near the mountains – down below, it’s a little too hot.

Sitting to the left? What have you got?

An even HAPPIER Friday!

In Communication, Griot, Self Improvement on April 1, 2016 at 10:25 am

q2-25th-bday-qui-44Monday was great and Tuesday was even better.
Knowledge comprehended; game sharper – tongue wetter.

Hump Day came along and brought goodness on its back.
Smiles softened the miles covered… in the sand, I saw 2 sets of tracks.

Thursday came in briefly and quickly spent the hours of 24,
then I wake up to a beautiful weekends start. My Fridays, I do adore.

“Encore!” I honestly say that — every 7 days,
I’m Qui
Happier again and poised to win on this another awesome Friday.

What have you got up for the weekend?
Take time out to DO YOU#SelfPreserve spend.

I’m surrounded by KKK

I prayed like Daniel and each woman showed up...

At first I felt alone, but then I prayed like Daniel and each woman showed up and surrounded me with knowledge…

… and it feels like they love me. I’m an artists wandering through the manual of the generations before me; they are better known as ‘the baby boomers.’ They accomplished some pretty iconic and cool things in the height of their productive era. My parents are baby boomers and the golden years are approaching. My father served this great country via the United States Air Force in his youth, in fact his initial squadron was SAC [Strategic Air Command] in Puerto Rico. It was my first time living out of the country. My family loved it.

Many moons have passed and Mom & Dad divorced and he remarried in 2012. As their golden years open up I am charged with choreographing their long term care and residential situation. Being that I’m barely 40 and my knowledge of retirement care and senior living is green,  –I am going for it anyway (a better understanding).

Beyond the Veterans Administration hooking me up with Kathy, a representative for hospice services to help me grasp the scope of my parents medical situation I did a little research online and found Kali on an awesome site that acts as a recruiting rep./ a liaison of sorts between the family and senior living properties.  Then ON TOP OF THAT I was blessed to be contacted by Kim. Kim works for a financial company that has come along to offer me a bridge loan for any financial lack the seniors may have during their residential transition period. These ladies are a 40-year old daughters DREAM TEAM when it comes to heading up her parents Senior Living journey.

They are truly angels, they have been the wind beneath my wings delivering me, each woman to the other in harmonious production. And no, they don’t all know each other. Their initials are

Kathy-Kali-Kim

I’m not even pulling the wool or “the hood” over your eyes when I say this: “KKK likes me and I like them back.” I’m quite fond of the services that they provide. They make the “senior golden years journey” go  much smoother than it otherwise would alone. Both Kali and Kathy have said on several occasions “I’m praying for you and your family.” You guys know that’s my lingo! ❤ My triple K team is alright with me.

I’m a real go-getter, self sufficient, I enjoy doing it on my own.
I thought I could patch together most things, by merely being grown.

Boy was I wrong in this case and I indeed needed much help.
And together we conquered great hurdles of debt and less wealth.

Kim was a phone call away. Kim is sweet as honey.
Kim is with ElderLifeFinancial. The folks with bridging money. 😀

Kali is with OUR PARENTS and she makes it her business to be personal and relate.
She listened to me rant on about their situation and how they needed to relocate.

She generated a list and it worked out well for us
then it was Kathy with Heartland Hospice who yielded the most love!

If Kathy didn’t live in Texas, I’d have bypassed the phone chat for a )))HUG(((.
Each of these ladies did more than their fair share and more than enough

for me to map out each step needed to take.
I’m Qui
blessed to receive such goodness from KK and K.

Thanks

Kathy, Kali and Kim

XO!!

Fred “Fab5Freddy” Brathwaite – Vegas 2014

A trip to New York is not ever complete without a trip to visit my awesome mentor and dear friend Fred “Fab5Freddy” Brathwaite, so that’s exactly what I did.

Fab is a very busy man, so let me express as much as possible how honored I was to get “any of his time” let alone time at the breakfast and dinner table with him. For breakfast we dined on a read by Talib Kweli with a side of bacon, pancakes and a fantastic cup of jo, (that he prepared for us). Good stuff. The literal cuisine was captivating and rivet-connecting. The article was titled, “Nigga? Please.” It was quite sufficient.

An evening meal of Ecuadorian rice caught us discussing Steve Stout‘s: The Tanning Of America. My mentor is a museum of knowledge and always has an interesting piece on hand. No boring conversation there. Knowledge rules the world, and I prefer to be a part of the ruling force, so I jotted down a reminder to get ahold of TTOA – all four hours of it.

Yes, I made tons of notes during our time together, but getting more familiar with The Tanning of America was at the top of my list. It was broadcast live in February of this year, and I don’t know how, but somehow I must have missed it. Thanks to VH1, I’m all caught up and am able to lay it out today, for your review.

Why would you want to review the broadcast too? Well, for one, this is the perfect time to watch it. It won’t clear up anything that’s going on in the world today as it pertains to race relations, Mike Brown or Travon Martin. No. But what it will do is hip you, educate you to the culture of your other neighbor. If nothing else, it opens up an interesting discussion. America needs so many more discussions.

Let’s see what all of the melanin is about in The Tanning of America:

Fab 5 Freddy sits on the panel with an awesome lineup of #GoodHeads hosted by Gail King: Steve Stout, Nas, Al Sharpton, Billy Corben and Daymond John

The full broadcast ran 4-days, for one hour each day. Click HERE to taste the knowledge.

Unity is in the Music.
If it’ll work, then sure! Let’s use it.

There’s more connecting us, than what keeps us apart.
The Tanning of America’s discussion is timely and smart.

Schmoozing with Fab5Freddy always leaves my lobes on wrinkle,
I’m Qui
And if knowledge was bladder heavy — every 5 minutes I’d have to tinkle.

Jam a Fab Freddy throwback!

Being fed beyond the good egg…

In Communication, Griot, Networking, News, Self Improvement on September 24, 2014 at 9:41 am

Egg whites vs Whole EggsI opened the breakfast menu and couldn’t quite decide
if I’d like white or whole eggs– scrambled or fried.

Then mom looks up, with her stylish specs on her nose,
and shared with me an article that an ‘egg-head’ had wrote.

It wasn’t about taste preference or the style of my breakfast delight,
but an informative piece about WHOLE EGGS vs. the WHITES.
And the author writes:

“There’s this persistent idea that we need to lower blood cholesterol by lowering the cholesterol we eat, but as research has evolved, it’s shown that dietary cholesterol doesn’t have a big impact on blood cholesterol,” says Precision Nutrition coach Brian St. Pierre, MS, RD, CSCS. “There are many corroborating human trials, but in one by Dr. Jeff Volek at University of Connecticut, subjects ate three eggs a day every day for 12 weeks and had no significant increase in blood cholesterol.”

Our bodies produce cholesterol naturally, it’s a key component in the structure of our cells, but how the body handles dietary cholesterol is even more interesting in light of the AHA’s recommendation: “There’s a feedback loop,” explains St. Pierre. “When you eat more cholesterol, your body will absorb less cholesterol and produce less. Conversely, when you eat less cholesterol, it will absorb a higher percentage and produce more.” [Ref. Source: Equinox.com]

Pretty interesting stuff! I was so glad to read…
then I ordered my eggs in the fashion that I pleased.

My breakfast was great. The establishment yielded a substantial feed,
I’m Qui
Happy HUMP DAY to thee! I had to ‘egg you‘ with the read.

Hello Monday – How are ya

In Communication, Griot, Networking, News, Politics, Self Improvement on July 8, 2013 at 1:10 am
First thing's first...

First thing’s first…

Hello Monday! How are ya? My goodness – my glutes sore.
I did a lot of running around and playing on July the 4th.

The weekend found me popping wisdom instead of popping firecrackers
and invoked me to effectively detour all routes of vampire energy snatchers.

I had a good time. Positive energy is mine and I really don’t ever mind sharing.
I met some of the most incredible folk who couldn’t help but be giving and caring.

Knowledge showed up on the scene – I like a challenge, so I didn’t hesitate or pant –
in realizing  it’s time I extend my philanthropy services into building a grant.

I’m also still in film mode – I’ve got that 2014 film festival piece to put together.
I’m pretty excited about it – even though we’re shooting outside in Phoenix’s weather.

Phoenix has no beach front property. There’s no water to cool things off.
Last Saturday we experienced 119 degrees. And I thought Dallas was hot!

Dallas doesn’t know 119. Dallas knows lower triple digits and lots of unnecessary steam.
I can’t complain, though I do miss the rain – still I’m embracing Phoenix’s sear seam.

So much happened over the weekend, there was a plane crash – a boeing whip;
there was also big news of an interim president reigning over the chaos in Egypt.

Trayvon Martins memory is currently being relived in the courts of justice today;
George Zimmerman’s life is still on the line thus I will continue to pray…

Anytime (to me) is a good time to take a few moments to pray.
Have you a need for divine intervene to grace your journey way?

Hello Monday! How are ya? It is indeed good to see you again.
I’m Qui
Enjoying the freshness of thee and am encouraged to continue to WIN!

Let’s do it together.
Let us SPRING forward – regardless of the weather.

Making sense of it…

In Communication, Griot, Networking, News, Self Improvement, Technology on August 22, 2011 at 7:01 pm

A lot is happening – I’m running double time trying to keep up.
LIFE is courting me dimensionally and with it — I’m so in love.

Nope: It ain’t all roses. Nope: it ain’t all fun.
Yep! I’m doing the best that I can to stretch the sauce of sum.

The economy is still in the tanker, though things are looking up.
Technology is keeping this country afloat. Give technology a hug.

Are you a smart phone carrier? Black Berry? Android? I rock the iPhone4 myself.
It’s savvy and quick & a great assistant – with whom I don’t have to share my wealth.

It reminds me of appointments and scheduled shoots I’ve prior booked.
I show up on time all of the time — for me it’s a pretty good look.

Recently I mentioned that “my guys job” was shipped over seas
And that he’s been skillfully unemployed for about 2 1/2 years to 3.

Skillfully being the operative word – because A JOB: he does indeed have.
But coming from his prior ENGINEERING skilled pay
his current jobs pay is a gas…
complete with a weekly nervous laugh. lol!

However things are looking up again, and good Karma is courting Fate:
my guy has been offered a skilled gig – that will likely move us out of state.

LIFE is never boring and for me: LIFE is hardly mundane.
It looks like I’ll be relocating – though my ENERGY will remain the same.

I’ll still be duly online all the time — in fact SKYPE and I will likely be tighter.
Sometimes you have to change a bit – to insure your future is brighter.

Born and raised in a red state – praying to reside in a blue one. I am a donkey lover.
Unfortunately for me, it looks like my good energy will be spent in red state other. lol!.

That’s what I get. Regardless, I will go where the money is growing,
and it looks like Technology is calling our name – due to seeds we’ve been sewing.

Knowledge and Technology go hand in hand and we’ve been lovers of each in the deep.

I’m Qui
Trying to Make SENSE of it all — while enjoying the online support of “Ye”.
Ooo Oui. lol!

You know I love ya’
& wouldn’t put a relocation above ya’! 🙂

Happy Week going forth.
What ever you do remain a POSITIVE SPORT.

I’ve got your back.
