whats-up-scary-movie-spoofWhat’s up, what’s up, what’s up?
Does this evening have you feeling like LOVE?

Mine does. It is beautiful and chilly in this place where I sit.
I’m near a window, it’s perfect to compose a Griot spit.

So I am.
Last week did you eat enough turkey, beef or ham?
Are you working it off today? I surely am.

2018 has been good to me so far,
minus the political petty and food in my belly
the Science of Cinematography is the star.

I love filmmaking! We just wrapped at 5,
and kinfolk I’m here to tell you that I feel all-the-way-live.

I think I’ll mingle with good company tonight,
grab a couple of drinks and maybe a bite.

But I didn’t want to do any of the such
without stopping by and sharing some of this LOVE!

Ain’t nothing like enjoying life to-the-fullest and hugging your passions,
I’m Qui
Good evening to thee. 5-4-3-2-1, carry-on and let’s make some more ACTION!

News-Peruse-July-2015What fame does to child actors has all of the charm of a maggot
Suffering from the affects la Maia Campbell calls a cop a faggot.

Why? Well I really don’t know
but I certainly used to love her in LL Cool J’s show.

It’s been a long time, yo! But her talent was mad real.
Now all I have is concern for how ‘yesterdays girl next door’ feels.

Is substance abuse in the equation? I wouldn’t be shocked if it were.
She requested to work with Iyanla Vanzant, but – [Ms. I] declined to help her.

It’s a repetitive cycle/blur and it can bring a good coach and loving fam to their knees,
Just ask the mom of yesterdays feme phenom la bella Lark Voorhies.

On the eyes she was a reel ease, but yesterday has surely gone
and with it, it has taken Larks PR team; her conversation is all wrong.

Interviewed on a couple of accounts – the media took a “throwback” gamble
and talked one on one with Lark Voorhies and all she did was ramble.

Words came out of her mouth, but they did not connect or make sense.
If this is an accurate self-representation, she may miss the gig to pay the rent.

Her mom is claiming that she is bipolar
but I question if someone slipped a psych drug in her soda.

She is clearly suffering the affects of something the FDA did not clear.
She’s responding when spoken to, but I can’t say that she’s all there.

But then there’s this other fella who’s knocking nay sayers out
Floyd Mayweather is winning the personal poverty bout.

He’s the richest celebrity on the books to date
So to all of the haters, take a “STICK IT” to the face.

And then there’s the aftermath of the forth of July
A celebratory day when a lot of folks are maimed and some die.

This year on the 4th the dangerous firecracker vapors
were clinched too tightly by two NFL players.

CJ Wilson, a CB for the Tampa Bay Bucs
gave at least two digits up

and DE Jason Pierre-Paul
lost 60 million doing it, y’all.

The contract that Pierre-Paul was going to get
was ripped off of the table when he lost a digit.

My goodness gracious we have got to be more careful.
Don’t risk losing limbs – while entertaining & being playful.

Hind site makes it all look dumb, but I do understand
It was a slip up on respect from a couple of intelligent men.

All it takes is one bad call to lose a finger or a hand.
Please let the PYROTECHNIC professionals handle what you weren’t schooled to understand.

And the parade goes on without one or two members of the band
and then we end up on the receiving end of Venus and Serena land.

Did you see these two ladies going at it a few days ago?
Every time I see them, I’m arrested and enthralled in the show.

And even though there were born in Compton, they were trained in a Lone Star hood.
We need skilled workers like the Williams sisters to culture-reflect good.

We need less buffoonery, less of  H.K. Edgerton and his outlook of rags,
his love for the confederate flag and the slave life our ancestors had.
He sho’ makes black folks look bad.
so sad.

Thank God this country won’t stand for it and is no ally to ignorance on a mainstay scale.
May racism and divisiveness be what we ultimately shoot to hell.

The flag will reside in a museum. It really can’t leave too quick.
This country is ready to heal, and some relics will make ya sick.

I understand and I hope you do too.
It’s a new day and less issues dividing me and you.

Now we can focus on how I really feel
in light of court documents showcasing the Cosby deal.

Oh yes! I have duly been informed
that in unsealed legal documents Bill deposed an alarm.

As a part of a settlement to make old allegations go away
Bill admitted to giving drugs to women back in the day.

Hey-Hey-Hey Fat Albert! Back up and hold on,
I gave you the benefit of the doubt – and you have proved to be wrong.

You’re a lover of pudding and you made no bones about it,
but how dare you cry foul when accusations did shout it?

Uncle Bill, I still love you, but you’ve got a lot of explaining to do,
I’m Qui

IN & OUT BURGERS have BEEF with Central Valley Meat Co.

Popular fast food joint, IN & OUT BURGERS has cut its ties with a California slaughter house under investigation for how it allegedly treats animals. GOP Attention Split Heading into Tampa

So with less than a week to go until Republicans descend on Tampa and the focus should be solely on the convention but instead is split on a trifecta of trouble for the grand old party:

You Didn’t Build That

The GOP is still hammering on that “You didn’t Build that” remark; however, James C. Roumell [Founder of Roumell Asset Management in Chevy Chase, Maryland] agrees with the president, that businesses just don’t evolve by themselves.

James recently wrote an op-ed piece in the Washington Post titled, “What I Built — With Government Help”. He supports the presidents previous statement about ‘if you are successful somebody helped you get there,’ maybe a teacher, maybe somebody created ‘the American system’ that allowed you to thrive. James says, he’s an example of that help and extends his appreciation to pell grants and other government loans that helped him get through college. James says:

Today, I own a small business, an asset management firm with $300 million in assets. Last year we launched the Roumell Opportunistic Value Fund (RAMSX) and hired three more people. We’re growing and creating jobs. I suppose I could pound my chest and take credit for my journey from Detroit to Chevy Chase, from working class to professional. I could say I built it myself. But this wouldn’t be true …click here to read the point of view of James’ American Dream

LL COOL J Knocked him out

LL COOL J’s American Story

In Griot, Music, News, Politics, TV Shows on April 2, 2010 at 11:08 am

She’s ba-aack!

The Republican Sweetheart Sarah Palin is getting more ‘face time but with a show hosting shine’. So…did you miss her?

She’s the host of FOX’s new show “Real American Stories”. The shows debut was last night @ approximately 10pm EDT. It was the perfect show to doze off too. I kid you, but LL Cool J wasn’t kidding when he slammed the show’s interview resources before its premier.

He heard about ‘his legacy being a topic for discussion on Palin’s show’ through the grapevine — much like Toby Keith and GE’s boss Jack Welch whose stories were also slated to be aired. Jack wasn’t aware that he was a part of the Repub Sweethearts showcase and Toby Kieth‘s PR Manager reaffirmed that ‘he has not been notified or requested to appear on Sarah Palins show’. Hm.

Uh oh and Oh no! Where did all the COOL hype go?
Sarah Paling is back and governing her own show!?!

LL denied that Palin would be discussing anything about him.
Jack & Toby weren’t jumping w/joy about her highlighting them.

Sarah’s the chic that quit Governing Alaska in 2009. Why? We don’t know.
Perhaps “She Came – She Lost – She Quit” should be the name of her show.

And so it goes LL Cool J’s American Story is one that Sarah’s show had to shoot to hell.
LL didn’t need her conservative stage for his Hip Hop famed page when he’s got ROCK THE BELLS!

I’m certain you know his story. He’s a LEGEND in the RAP Diocese
I’m Qui
digging the Repub Sweetheart’s show (last night) – it so easily lulled me to sleep.
Gotta Luv it…Ooooo Weee

Has Rap taken a Wrap

In Music, Networking on January 27, 2010 at 8:31 am

Let’s CHANGE THE BEAT for a minute and talk about black music, Hip Hop in particular. Is it even still considered black music with such inductees like Eminem and a plethora of other white boys that go hard in their hood? Hip Hop belongs to no race of people today – it’s fair game. But the birth of its roots are as black as they come. NY birthed something beautiful and Fab5Freddy was there. It was then that he laced Blondie with those now famous words: “Fab5Freddy told me everybody’s fly…” in her Rapture video on MTV. Remember that? Fab continues to maneuver behind the scenes producing and directing music videos, co-producing and exec-producing films/documentaries and of course riding at the helms of the VH1 Annual Hip Hop Honor Shows that air in October. Last year was a big hit – if you missed it, peep some of the memorable 2009 highlights below::

It was good. But where are we (in terms of growth) in rap today? A lot of the beats are nice but what about the words? Where have the words gone? What are we saying? I don’t know what 1-hit wonders rule your local airwaves, but there’s a song that rhythmically (beat banging) hits the spot and gets all of the air playtime, I don’t know the songs title, but the chorus phrase is as follows:

“He’s got a big… and knows how to use it. Bone!”

And the message behind it is? Well I think you get it. I’m too young to be railroaded into listening to TALK RADIO all of the time in my car. A girl (like myself) likes to bounce around at a stop light or two to the local FM hip hop stations, but it’s just not happening. The last time I danced in my car, at the light, had to have been 2 summers ago. As of recent, you can find me in my car silent, (listening to NPR Radio) or waving my mock-maestro hand to the classical concertos that feed their segway changes. It just isn’t right. I was raised on hip hop and I thought it would never stop. Now I’m praying that the current rap slop on the radio will be arrested. I love Lil’ Wayne, but he ain’t talking about nothing neither is Nikki Menaj. Drake is okay, but he’s not quite a rapper. Now there is a hip hop guy that I have been feeling as of late, but he’s not on the local airways – he’s mostly online. I met him on Twitter through one of FabNewYorks Re-Twits [RT], his name is JASIRIX and today he nearly stands alone in his fresh approach to being socially and economically aware in his rap messages & videos. There are staple legends in the rap game that are known for doing “exactly that”, like KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Most Def, Common – but naturally, they get next to NO AIRTIME on local radio stations. Perhaps it’s because their lyrics make you think too deeply. What do you think? Are you thinking?

Which rap artist are flooding your local radio stations and what are their moral messages on a whole? Are LL Cool J, Jay-Z & Ice Cube out of sound messages? Does a banging beat really need raggedy lyrics? Lately I’ve opted for the instrumentals. They provide me the jam I want to jerk my body too and because there’s no auto tune vocals atop of it, I am able to think my own thoughts or even freestyle aloud with no artist interruption. What’s rap without the rap artist? A hip hop instrumental track. Soooo Has Rap taken a Wrap? Is it possible to revise the legendary format and chart a literal come back?

I’m Qui
‘Definitely looking forward to that.
