Pray, Eat, Play – Sunday

In Communication, Griot, Self Improvement on October 8, 2017 at 10:00 am

sunday

After six days of hump we rest on the seventh.
We pay homage to God; we focus on heaven.

Some do it at the church house some do it via streaming feed.
There are so many venues sewing the divine seed

On Sunday.
If you’re an NFL fan – it’s a bonus fun day.

I’ve got that die-hard blue and silver bleed.
The Dallas Cowboys are my NFL lead.

Rest is tops on my agenda so I won’t get too riled up.
I’ve got a nourishing dinner to cook; a kitchen to smell-up.

I’ll sip proseco as I go to and fro the stove.
I’m cooking pan seared trout, green beans and carrots – no rolls.

I don’t want my dinner guest to leave “on swoll,” — so we’re eating clean.
It’s okay to fish fry and do collard green – but we’re going lean.

Are you in?
My pan seared trout will make you grin.
Make you call grandmama and ask her if we’re kin. 😂

Let’s just kick back and chill in our team jerseys and sip our cups of juice.
Let us celebrate life today and with self, make a new truce

To take advantage of rest at every meet of day seven
To also pray and meditate as to not to miss heaven.

Even if “heaven is a a place on earth, “
Use day 7 to retreat from “the girth.”

Don’t look lost. You know your girth.
I’m Qui
Enjoying the Sabbath with thee making new memories – for all that it’s worth.

Like white on RICE… Ray Rice.

This ain’t the rice Unc’ was talking about…

When Whoopi Goldberg came under fire for the comments she made on THE VIEW about ladies not putting their hands on men, I understood her position and seconded the wisdom. We were responding to the strongly edited version of Ray Rice’s [then] fiancé falling face first from the elevator after “allegedly” being in a back-and-forth [hand-to-hand] altercation with Ray inside of the elevator. The footage was shown from the outside as the couple entered the elevator, then again from the outside as the doors opened again and Janay (the fiancé’) fell face first into the lobby.

The headlines implied that that was all of the footage available for review and so the story took off in a half hearted light. I agreed with Whoopi that women should not lean on chivalry when you decide to lunge and belt a dude, especially a burly dude. I don’t condone fighting so if I can advise a young girl or two to keep her hands to herself, I will. However, that was not the case with Janay Rice.

Once inside of the elevator, it appears that while Janay is pressing the elevator buttons, when Ray Rice approaches her, closely. Janay flails her left arm as if to ward him off (sacred space). Ray then throws a left jab that lightly brushes Janay’s head, but only because she stepped out of the swing of the punch (stepped to her left). After Rays near-miss swing, he steps back and Janay, comes towards him, with her purse strap on her right shoulder, before she gets into Rays face good, he swings another left punch, that lands smack in the center of Janay’s jaw and it’s LIGHTS OUT baby! Janay’s lifeless body hits the steel railing at the rear of the elevator and she goes down. Out cold. It is only then, that the elevator doors open and Ray aggravatingly lifts Janay by the waist and drags her half way out of the elevator doors, then he drops her, face down in the lobby w/her legs still in the door way of the elevator. In fact, the elevator doors attempted to close, but Janay’s legs deterred the action.

Thanks TMZ Sports! Had TMZ not obtained the rest of the hotel footage and leaked it to the press, the NFL and Ray Rice would have gotten away with implying that Janay attacked Ray on the elevator and that Ray HAD TO knock her out to stop her attacks. Nope. That absolutely did not happen and now Ray looks like a monster. I think he might be. He had very little regard for his fiancé as she layed out cold on the floor from his punch. In an attempt to further suppress the truth , Ray did a televised press conference before the release of the full video footage and apologized to his teammates and fans whilst Janay was sitting next to him, shouldering half the blame (yes – she made an apology statement too).

Why would Janay shoulder half the blame? This is what has women up in arms today. Why would the NFL, and any other aiding counsel advise Janay to attend the conference and shoulder the blame of Ray Rice beating her up and it being caught on video?

I am not pleased with the NFL today and Ray Rice is a coward.

Even after the remainder of the video footage surfaced and the Ravens cut Ray and the NFL suspended him for a year, he continues to say, “He and his wife are working this out.” He and his wife? If Ray doesn’t see that he is 95% of the problem in this domestic abuse situation, I don’t think I trust his clarity of mind or moral. His lame attempt to act as if both, he and Janay, are to blame for him cold clocking Janay is shameful. It is not the stance of a strong man. It is the stance of cowering soul. The “I’m not taking all of the blame, because you know I have a temper,” excuse is a pussy.

Ray is lucky that Janay is not my sister and that my brother is not her brother, because my brother would be on that Like white on RICE… Ray Rice. Method Man agrees with me and you know how Solange Knowles acts when you mess with her sister. So…

Suddenly a ray breaks through past-headlines and shines a new and respectful light on JayZ and his response to Solange kicking the guts out of him a few months back, because he was perusing to “side chick” a Miami rapper, Liv. It was unnerving seeing Bey’s little sister wailed on the rap mogul, but at least, he did not wail back or cold clock her. Now, on that note, a few years back (2009-2010) there was a gif circulation social media where Jigga slap/tapped a chick who was clowning in his face (holding him up), as he appeared to be exiting a venue via back stage, or behind the scene. There wasn’t ever much of a story that followed that gif, but it exists, there were no bruises, retaliation or need for legal council or rehab. Obviously Jigga keeps his hands in his pocket and is excellent with his mouth. Congrats Beyonce! Enjoy that.

We’re praying for Janay.

My goodness gracious, that ran me hot.
I was just beginning to like the NFL a lot.

LADIES: Roger Goodell is testing our patience,
by insulting our intelligence and I, for one, hate it.

Campaigning for more ‘WOMEN [to] Love the NFL’ and selling us jerseys
while watching Ray Rice’s assault surveillance tape and deciding to bury.

My, oh my. And you want me to believe
the NFL had not seen
the video tape acquired by TMZ?

You can tell by Ray’s actions, that he’s done this before,
because his immediate response was NOT to drop to the floor

to check on Janay, or take her vital signs.
It’s as if this was “a norm” in the state of his mind.

So many times,
the tape has been on rewind
and replaying in my mind…
I conclude Ray Rice ain’t too kind.

He ain’t too strong neither.
When Janay apologized, I didn’t believe her.

She’s a battered woman. A bit confused in her thoughts.
Ray punched the merchandise, and 1-month later, he bought.

This is life, not a bodega and if you punch her, you go to jail.
I’m Qui
Forgoing Uncle Bens, Ray Rice and the got doggit NFL.

They’ve got nothing for me but merchandise sell.
Go to hell…

Ring The Bell – For The NFL

output_R4g54y

Yes! Yes! I’m so glad it’s football season
for the vibe that fans release – is my chief reason.

I’m not a STAT’s girl, but I love the unity
that comes with football season. It’s really good to me.

Though I must admit, I had to look twice
at the headline news on Ray Rice.
Aye-yai-yai!

After the security video footage shows
his gf had taken a 1-2-punch 4-doze,
somewhere beyond the elevator door,
and then exited knees down, face to the floor.

No. It’s not good press. No gain or get-ahead.
Now Whoopi’s under review for what she said.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith apologizes for comment made on Ray Rice’s situation

Whoopi isn’t defending Ray for knocking his girlfriend out,
she’s stressing, HIT NO-ONE lest you risk being knocked out.

Be it girl or be it boy – put your hands on no man
or you too, may realize an unconscious knee-2-face land.

——————————
It’s true. It ain’t pretty.
Betting on chivalry – is a pity.
—————

And so on this Tuesday Morning, I bid you early
to hit no man – especially if he’s burly.

EXTANT

Okay, please tell me that you are still watching
CBS’s EXTANT? It’s cinema-show-stopping.

Each week get’s better and better
The writing is so cold – I watch wearing a sweater.

I’m kidding. I’m kidding. It’s way too hot to cover up,
though I am still curious as to whose baby is in ‘the cut?’

Molly’s fetus is growing and the galactic ring symbols are concerning.
I mean, Molly always wanted a baby, but by an alien, isn’t what she was yearning.

Or is it an alien co-breed at all? Her friend, Alan, is acting up.
I’m trying to hear what he’s saying, but I don’t feel at ease, to trust.

We know he’s keeping something about his friend and her body.
But why not divulge all — when clearly asked by Molly?

Good God o’ mighty. I’m certainly filled with proclivity.
Dare I say, I’m scared away by good writing and cinemactvity?

I am not.
This stuff is HOT!

Please REMEMBER NOVEMBER

20111115-080206.jpg

November will be 10 years old on October 15, 2014. Besides old age, he’s suffering from the effects of Valley Fever.

It is indeed Tuesday Morning and I feel Special to be alive.
I could’ve lost my life last Saturday evening on a routine highway drive.

I’m so happy to be here, WordPress kin. So happy to be here with you.
I’m sipping a cup of jo, I’ve already eaten a waffle or two.
Ooo!

I’m feeling real good on this morning, though November, my dog, isn’t.
He’s still with me, for the moment; approaching a decade with me and him.

I woke up yesterday morning, preparing to do my Monday blog write
only to find November on the rectified laundry room floor, barely alive.

I did consult a vet and the vet did duly say
November has lived a good life, and his exit is on the way.

I don’t know what more to say. My kid is trying her best to be strong.
She doesn’t want to euthanize – and I concur.  Are we wrong?

We have another vet appointment tomorrow – I suppose then I’ll face my fears.
Do keep November in your prayers. I know his end is near.

And with that, I move on. Today will be the best Tuesday that I can render,
I’m Qui
feeling quite Special this Morning. I am the #PositivePushing defender.

Do you feel that?

Love is in the air
Love is in The Air but Chris Christie is getting none
it seems his ‘cone placing’ sarcasm – is no longer fun.

David Wildstein was informed he’d have to pay for this own defense
per the port authority decision makers because it only makes sense

that if he isn’t going to take the fall of this ax – that is quite heavy,
then new jeopardy opens up for laying blame on Bridgett Kelly.

Bridgett Kelly is the lady who sent the infamous text
to David Wildstein regarding ‘the traffic jam’ vex.

Wildstein worked for the port authority and Ms. Kelly worked next to CC.
David Samson is (one of) CC’s close advisors – he runs the port authority.

I wonder if David Samson had a vote in the decisive call,
that led to Wildsteins legal support stall?

During committee hearings, Wildstein’s attorney was on his council duty
when he asked the questioning counsel to yield Wildstein immunity.

In light of all of this Ms. Bridget Kelly has gained a clue;
she’s ditched Christie’s lawyer-friend, and hired her own attorney too.

Kelly had been sitting quiet, giving the media no time at all
She was the loyal team member, who dropped, then held the ball.

Chris Christie dumped-on her and said Kelly was a lone rogue player.
Still she never once said a word; she held down her supportive layer.

But after seeing the story fall apart in the news and unravel at the seams,
Bridget Kelly figured she’d better strap in and look out for “i” instead of “team.”

Suddenly I’m hearing John Paul Young [1978] singing:

Love is in the air
every time I turn around…

Do you feel that? Surely you can sense the signs of peril and danger.
Where are the wise men (in this story) and where is the manger?

Where is the light that will lead CC’s administration out of this?
Is that love in the air or a skunk smell amidst?
You must admit it has a funky kind-of twist…

They say, ‘in love’ that ‘all is fair,
and I’m just wondering if you smell that funk in the air?

I love you all, it’s a new week and all is fair on this new day,
I’m Qui
quoting Fab5Freddy, “Life is a game that must be played.”

Speaking of ‘play’ — the NFL will have its say,
Today is February 2nd – SUPER BOWL Sunday!!!

Rolling with Roland

In News, Politics, Sports on April 14, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Roland Rocks!Don’t you just love Roland Martin? I do. Born and raised in Houston, TX [11.14.68], this A Phi A brother (notice the black and gold attire) is alright with me. I love his intellectual outspoken nature. Whether the topic be about April being “Confederate Month” or Ben Roethlisberger and the NFL Commissioner issues, Roland is unbias and unquiet.

He’s not for “celebrating confederate month” in any state and he’s not exactly supportive of the NFL Commissioner reprimanding Ben before he’s been officially charged by the justice system of any wrong doing…like they did PAC MAN Jones and [NBA] Gilbert Arenas. Roland also recently ripped into police on their own “stop snitching” policy for lying and protecting the cops who beat the U of Maryland student when his team beat DUKE (@ the end of the regular season).

Mr. Martin is conversationally all over the place with interesting points to make. I like the way he rolls. You don’t have to agree with him, but it sure is good to hear from Mr. Martin on any front, whether by CNN views, or his radio tunes. I am PRO-Roland Martin and today — I appreciate his voice.

Life is good and good I feel
to key in on such a reflective appeal.

I’ve got a thing for outspoken & intellectual dudes,
I’m Qui
Digging Rolands sharpness from his mind to his suits.
Oooo! 🙂
