NEWS PERUSE

Yep! It’s that time again
that we thumb through the news to see what is IN::

Looks like Michelle Bachman was committed to botching up the authorized Republicans surmise,
reading straight ahead – but filmed from the left – gave her a look of ‘roaming eyes’.

Chris Matthews and Bill Maher both they think she’s talking while “hypnotized”.
Boehner and Palin better WATCH OUT! Michelle Bachman (+ fan base) is on the rise.

Post hearing Michelle’s speech Chris called it THE BIG CARTOON SHOW & topped it off with “LET ME FINISH”…:

“I speak in all objectivity here –anyone who calls on the American media to investigate Congress for Anti-Americanism has no knowledge of the General McCarthy period. No notion of what McCathyism was. Anyone who says as Bachman did this week that Slavery in this country, (our original sin) ended with the Founding Fathers is beyond hope. We fought a Civil War to decide to end slavery. 600,000 men on both sides were killed to end this evil and the Founding Fathers DIDN’T END IT.

Slavery is written right there in The Constitution — the part to treat slaves as 3/5 of a person. People know this. You and I know this. Most Americans know that it took the Civil War to end slavery and it hurts in our national memory. Slavery hurts. It’s hard to imagine people accepting it. Justifying it – but they did, and it took almost a century of our history to end it. And another century to end JIM CROW.

I don’t doubt that there are some decent and knowledgeable people who are going to Tea Party events — but what I don’t get is why they sit there and let their movement be represented on national television by a loony tune”.

WHAT IS MC CARTHYISM? I’m glad you asked….
The term McCarthyism, coined in 1950 in reference to McCarthy’s practices, was soon applied to similar anti-communist activities. Today the term is used more generally in reference to demagogic, reckless, and unsubstantiated accusations, as well as public attacks on the character or patriotism of political opponents.[2]

Chris went off explicitly. Right?
Catch the re-run of his broadcast later on tonight.
Knowledge is power & Chris drops insight.

So what did you think about the STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS?
I think he did good. He would’ve said more – but couldn’t have said any less.

He’s focused on the futureas we all should in looking ahead,
because the steel mill work is forever outsourced & corporate security is dead.

He’s focused on getting America in shape & back up on her feet.
He’s into moving forward in being a force in future technological competes.

Yeeeee! I’m with he. Let us be progressive and stake new claim.
I’m glad The SOTU was about the future & not a show of upcoming campaigns.
Yep-Yep Our president is duly doing the dang thang.
Whether he means to or not – this brothers got game. 🙂

Pre-Friday is at hand, and I feel like we’re already there,

June Teenth & What it means

In Communication, News on June 16, 2010 at 7:16 am

Yes.  You’ve heard the term before:

“Niggers Day”.

There! I said it.

I’m black – I’m not afraid of the word “Nigger”. I’m from the South – so I’m clear on what the history of Niggers Day is and what it represents. I’m a writer – so don’t make this a WORD GAME with me. It won’t work.

If Nigger was a good enough term in 1865 to label our Ancestors with…it’s good enough for me to recall in title when celebrating (and referring to) June 19th. It was spoken in a derrogatory tone by slave masters, but we all know a non-black person using that word, will recieve a beat down from the the nearest black person – in the name of HISTORY and their ancestors who were duped into thinking SLAVERY was still legal – when in fact it was abolished for 2.5 years prior by the President, before anyone told the Slaves in the South.

Ugly. Right? A very sensitive subject.

For years June Teenth Celebrations were largely limited to the Southern region, but today, due to our adventurous travel across Gods great land, June Teenth is celebrated by a myriad of people in a number of states as a reminder of American History. Niggers Day was not a celebration for white folks in 1865, because they were likely not so happy about having to FREE ALL OF THOSE SLAVES. It must have hurt like hell. However being free after centuries of enslavement was no doubt The BEST DAY of our Ancestors Lives and today we welcome all to celebrate in unity.

I’m going to celebrate it. I’m going to celebrate it BIG. I will not forget History and I won’t let my offspring forget either. In fact, June Teenth is my first cousins birthday — so on this day you can usually find me at the park near the bar-b-que pit sipping red soda water and socializing with good freedom loving people. 🙂 That’s right! June Teenth is a great day! I thank God it finally happened.

What’cha know ’bout it?

JUNE TEENTH FACT:

Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862, with an effective date of January 1, 1863, it had minimal immediate effect on most slaves’ day-to-day lives, particularly in Texas, which was almost entirely under Confederate control. Juneteenth commemorates June 18 and 19, 1865. June 18 is the day Union General Gordon Granger and 2,000 federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to take possession of the state and enforce the emancipation of its slaves.

Where is David Alan Grier with “CHOCOLATE NEWS” when you need him? CNN’s Don Lemon surely could have used his help this weekend when he single handedly took on interviewing a few Confederate Month advocates. One black re-inactee in particular [H.K. Edgerton] ‘lost his damn mind’ all over the air waves as he implied, being a slave wasn’t so bad.?.

.

HK Edgerton is a piece of work. Google him. And while we seek to highlight “the good”, the silver lining in all perspectives, Mr. Edgerton is hard to suffice in category. When Don Lemon asked him if he could understand that some people (in particularly African Americans) would find “Confederate Celebration” offensive – Mr. Edgerton went into a soliloquy of sorts, as to how slave lifestyle was a misconception in American History. I was soooo disenchanted – as was Don Lemon. I had hoped by the end of the shows segment that Mr. Edgerton would have made his points of pro-Confederate Celebrations clear — but no such thing happened. The other two guests who were being interviewed on the show were white. Their positions on “Confederate Celebrations” were far more empathic on the position of “slavery”, (a hot topic that was brought to the forefront after the Gov. of VA recently omitted slavery acknowledgement in his Confederate Celebration speech. He has since added slavery acknowlegment into his proclamation speech and insists that his Confederate Celebration is about “celebrating the unions brotherhood” and not to glorify the ignorance of the slavery era).

I live in the South. Born and raised in Texas. Educated in the south. A decendant of slaves. I’m thrilled and overjoyed that our country no longer supports, slavery advocates, or tolerates slavery in any fashion. Slavery was ugly when the Israelites were in captivity; it was ugly when the Natzi’s enslaved the Jews; it was ugly when Africans sold thier own to the Europeans as slave hands –for profit; it was ugly as portrayed in ROOTS and the history of it (to date) is still painful. So where was Mr. HK Edgerton coming from with his support of Confederate Celebration when “part of” the very basis of the confederates fight was over “the emancipation proclamation” and the “freeing slaves”? Mr. Edgerton is a black man, dark in pigmentation and an obvious decendant of slaves. Not only was I uncomfortable watching him trying to explain why he was PRO-Confederate Celebration, but I was offended that he implied that it’s a positive part of our Southern History. Nothing could be further from the truth.

HK Edgerton has ‘lost his damn mind’ & David Alan Grier would have been the perfect co-host on CNN this weekend (with Don Lemon) to deliver that line. Instead, Don was forced to cut Mr. Edgerton off often and refer to the other guests on the show, who did their best to put a positive spin on an era that was so hurtful. Not to mention if the CIVIL WAR had been won by the South (…ie the confederates) slavery could very well STILL be in play today. Did you ever think of that?

It’s so easy and unintelligent to ‘not to think’,
but to CELEBRATE blatant ignorance – just stinks!
