PEACE and the DEUCE

peaceI’m currently feeling both: PEACE and the DEUCE. While driving away from my 7:15a.m. yoga class at the Tao Healing Center, at approximately 8:45a.m., I threw up the DEUCE as the view of the building became smaller in my rear view mirror. I was completely submerged in PEACE. I harnessed it in class. The class promptly started at 7:15 but I was about 10 minutes late. Tsk-Tsk and shame on me, right? Well, actually, I was bringing with me a guest and she was a bit delayed so, I kind-of made up for it. Kind-of. 🙂

We stretched, tapped & patted our bodies into an awakened state, our blood pumped more fluidly and circulated with more ease… we breathed in a space encompassed with the sounds of dole drums and hums. It was magical. I prayed, gave thanks (internally) and meditated in the space. I felt the energy of the man meditating in front of me. It was beautiful. I don’t know his name, but gosh I enjoyed his energy. He didn’t speak a word, he was a mere participant in class, but his energy? I enjoyed it so much, that I had to comment to him at the end of class. He received my appreciation. Namaste.

the-deuceThe instructor’s name of this morning’s class was Bretta; she’s also known as PEACE, (her spiritual name). I didn’t learn this information until the close of class. I should have known! That’s the exact feeling that washed over us during the 1.25-hours that we were in class with her.

This is how I began my day and pray that you began yours with PEACE, also. However, if a vibe of negativity is working on your nerves right now – I beseech thee, upon reading this to give it the DEUCE.

If you find an excess of politics divvying out energetic strife —
You could probably use a little bit of Tao Yoga in your life.

I know I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again:
meditation and prayer have got to be your best friends.

How could they not?
Hell is still too hot. 😉

You know what I’m saying? You get the point – I’m sure.
You, acknowledging your body may be part of the cure

to keeping ill vibes from infecting your spirit and soul.
Kinfolk, today’s Tao Yoga class was worth my weight in gold.

Wooo! It’s a great way to start a day, even though I was a few minutes late!

and being late has never stopped me from piling good vibes onto my plate.

Though — it won’t happen again Tao Guide, Peace.  I bid tardiness the DEUCE!

Yoda and Yoga

The two have more in common than just the sound of their name. Both are in a relationship with the force of the body and wisdom. I’m not a die hard STAR WARS fan but I do love Yoda.

Very true that quote is, which is exactly why I’m on the chase to sculpt my body into
something fantastic this year. I’m quite excited fitness. I’ve been working out on an average of 6-days a week. I could probably stand to cut back, but honestly, it’s not strenuous workouts. I hone an elliptical machine for no less than 65-minutes straight each morning. If the latter of the day permits me time, I squeeze in an even lower impact 20 (+) additional minutes– (moderate walking speed). The elliptical machine works my arms and legs simultaneously and the caloric burn is unreal. So I wasn’t put off when I started to get a little lower back aggravation.
Working out 6-days a week is nothing to scoff at.
The lower back pain wasn’t persistent or too, too bad, but it was often enough for me to start researching stretches and things I could possibly do to alleviate it. Because the elliptical machine works both the upper body and lower, I’m also experiencing muscle tightness in my shoulders and between my blades. It doesn’t help that I naturally hold tension in my shoulders. There is no room for additional taut in my trapezius muscles.

It is wise to know thy body, Yoda is right. In search of non-medicated muscle relief (so that I can get back to my fun and awesome workouts), I came across many suggestions of muscle stretching and lengthening via Yoga. I’m all in!
