Three Saturdays ago, I began my morning at The Waffle House on University and the 101. The food was good, however, the company inside of the establishment is always a subject to keep your eye on. My last visit was around 10:30 am, I ordered the ALL STAR special: a waffle, bacon, eggs, and grits. Like I said, it was good. I tipped well, but not as heavy as I usually do, because they were a bit busy and slacking on the swiftness of service. Still, the food was good. In fact, that’s why I keep going back; food consistency.

Last weekend James Shaw, Jr. had a hankering for a waffle and ended up at a Nashville Waffle House franchise. All was well until a half-naked gunman comes in shooting. James was quick on his feet and fled to the restroom. The gunman kills four people and the gunfire stops. James sprints from the restroom and bum rushes the gunman – wrestling his gun away from him. James tosses the gun behind the counter and continued in a life-struggle until the half-naked man squirmed out of James’ grasps and ran. He is currently on the lam and James is being hailed a hero. He’s only 29-years old but embodied the courage of an entire police force since that’s what it normally takes to bring down a gunman whose taken public civilians hostage.

Four lives were lost and at the speed at which the half-naked man was shooting, it would have indeed been more had James not taken him down. James is without a doubt the ALL STAR of the Waffle House and the Nashville community today. Nothing tastes as good as life. James Shaw, Jr. preserved many this weekend.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited
to hear good news and be able to cite it.

I’ve been eating breakfast at home – no butter, bread or rice.
I’m conscious of my health and it’s preserving my life.

Thank God a gunman didn’t decide that he’d shoot up a Starbucks.

Can you imagine how our lives would have been further tested,
had just moments prior James Shaw, Jr. been arrested?

Last weekend at a Starbucks in Philly
2-black men were arrested and the manager looks silly.

The black men were arrested for waiting on a friend who was white;
he arrived as they were being handcuffed and lead off of the site.

How could this be legal, civil or constitutionally right?
Had James Shaw, Jr. been arrested – how many more would have died?

We need to think about it America. This is who we are.
We are patrons of a Waffle House and James is the All Star.

We all want to live a good life, laugh and be a dynamic lover.
Perhaps we all need to take a look at who we call sisters and brothers.

Breakfast has no race
and evil almost closed down that place.

Why the limitations? Life is a gift and it shouldn’t be randomly taken.
